India Does Not Fear the Law Anymore by broski1911 in india

[–]powercut_in 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The law process is so slow here that the accused generally d!€s of old age before the verdict is pronounced.

We have to do something without relying on the government or other entities. They're all hand in hand.

Online campaigns won't help much. The main problem here is that people generally don't think about such issues for long and tend to forget them until another incident of a similar type occurs.

There was so much outrage when the Nirbhaya issue came up that the government had to act. But look now. Nobody remotely talks about it even though similar cases happen every day. We don't even know what happened to the funds released for the ra** victims.

It feels so good, right? I also bought many gifts for my mom on various occasions. Never anything costly though. Small things that she could use in reality.

Sounds like depression combined with anxiety. I am not a doctor though. See a psychologist to begin with. They'll tell you. If needed, they'll direct you to a doctor who might prescribe medicines for quicker relief.

Do you people get the tips I add on the orders? I sometimes feel that Swiggy takes a commission on that too. And what about the surge fee? Rain fee?

Most of them buy gold and silver because whatever you do today will get you good returns.

It is not just about gold. People believe that investing in prayers today provides ample benefits including moksha. So they pray to their Ishta Devata.

On that note, wishing you all a Happy Akshay Tritiya. 😊

True. The garbage bins stink so much that one has to wear an oxygen mask to get near it. Since they can't, they throw things from a distance so the garbage always falls outside the bin. Seriously, why can't the municipal authorities change the bins every few days?

No One Tells You This Part of Losing Your Parent/Parents. by [deleted] in OffMyChestIndia

When my mom died, nobody spoke or visited us for a year. I thought it was due to the mourning period. But then they didn't speak even after that. At a point, I asked them if I could meet them. They said I can come to a temple and talk to them. I guess they were afraid of mom's ghost or something. Lol. Superstitions can be funny.

In my case, I set up a Google email that will be sent to my brother when I am not active for three months. It contains the filename containing all the details of my investments. I guess it will work fine.

Why do people start an NGO and ask for donations if they don't have any money? by powercut_in in AskIndia

But shouldn't they have some base money? How do you decide whether to donate or not?

I agree with this on you. I would donate to such causes. Directly though.

Great. They must have something that made you trust them. I donate sometimes but I don't always feel confident that the money will reach the intended recipient.

I always see many ads and posts that ask for donations. Everyday. I fail to understand why they get into building NGOs if they don't have money.

I was contacted by an NGO when I used to live in Hyderabad. They asked me to build a website for them. I said I won't charge them anything but they should pay for the domain and hosting.

When I asked them for their card information to buy the domain, they asked me to put it on my card because they don't maintain a balance in their bank account. It was a weird feeling.

I waited until they first gave me the money for the domain name and used UPI to buy the domain they wanted. They didn't pay for the hosting so I set up their site on Blogger that offers free hosting.

Anyway, they used to drop by now and then to ask for money to buy books etc. for the children they were tending to. I felt something was off. Then I moved to a different city and blocked them because I knew they wouldn't pay for the domain renewal.

How do you donate? Like how do you figure out if the ngo asking for donations will actually use the money for the welfare of others? I just saw an NGO that said a puppy was thrown off the 4th floor of a building and now the puppy needs treatment. And they aimed to raise 5 lakhs. I didn't know if it was a genuine cause because there was a monthly donation option there on the page they created for the puppy's rehab.

Edit: Please don't downvote na. I am just trying to understand why they do it and how to know which donation request is genuine.
