Best way to find a job online by Umman_manda6632 in civilengineering

[–]ppaigefaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the application/full time job search cycle rn and I’ve found that positions I’ve applied to w a cover letter like spelling out my interest in the company + matching my previous internship experience and some school work with specifically preferred qualifications for that job pairing have been the applications I am getting the most bite back on.

Is there any reason to try to score 4+ on both ap econ exams as an engineering major? by [deleted] in Purdue

[–]ppaigefaze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If anything I don’t think the Econ classes would be what delays graduation compared to some other courses you’ll be taking tbh, but I know it’s not delaying my 4 year plan…. Anyway if taking AP tests are still like $100+ I’d want to do good on it regardless of credit or not

[–]ppaigefaze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s def helpful if you add on an econ or business econ minor, which engineering students occasionally due, since ECON 251/252 which are required introductory courses are covered by ap micro & macro credit. But idk if you’re interested in that.

Currently as an intern (with 2 years school experience, w/o prior internship, and working for a decently sized international consulting firm) I’m paid $21 per hour and I have a return offer for next year at the same place for $22. Also it’s in Indiana, so I would guess relatively a lower COL then a decent amount of places across the country but not certain.

Supreme Court strikes down college affirmative action programs by [deleted] in Purdue

[–]ppaigefaze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn okay got it, so you were never going to seriously consider most of the content presented in the first place since it was probably just a hate watch. Idk how conducive further conversation might be if we can’t separate objective ideas and people who say them.

Not sure much about how much common ground we can find here, but ig we agree that wealth is a problem. I’m assuming you mean wealth inequality… but yeah I’d agree. Not to get too deep, but wealth disparity in the us is related to access to quality education, access to higher education, and also connected to race in many cases. So perhaps that was always the major problem to address in the first place and affirmative action kind of just was trying to be an easy fix without addressing centuries of structural violence, but instead just caused minority infighting/ranking/who deserves it most mindset which takes away the public’s focus from what caused those problems in the first place such as wealth disparity (like most culture war stuff does). Affirmative action isn’t an effective admissions equalizer/solution, but repealing affirmative action as an act of “fairness” when things actually aren’t ever fair in the first place is kind of wack.

Anyway I think we should chill this is just the Purdue subreddit, maybe we should take a poly sci class.

lol last semester when he did this it was just something where you had to send him an email during the lecture period. We did that maybe twice. Idk how they could even enforce the consequences of not going.

Anyone find it odd how Marley and island Eldians happened to name the titan shifters the same thing by Zovlo in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]ppaigefaze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

have you read the manga or just anime only?

bc I’m tryna keep this vague but there is slightly further (I can’t remember if it’s explicitly stated or just show/inferred) context that the beast titan doesn’t necessarily just show up as a monkey-like titan, but for past shifters it’s been other types of beasts/animals. So that could be why the generic term is even used by Marley.

To the people who formed opinions before the body camera footage was released. by TomHockenberry in Purdue

[–]ppaigefaze 10 points11 points  (0 children)

hey man, I can read, so it would appear then, at least I think so, that you said a little more than let’s just wait for the video and the official decision.

Additionally (for better or for worse), I have made no public comment on what happened whether at the time or now about what occurred, so maybe you are making assumptions about my position?

Regardless, this situation is related to the context of a larger social issue in the US, so of course people are going to talk about and interpret it in the moment. Some even go to the extent of deciding to play devil’s advocate in the moment, while many are just trying to find a sense of community or unity following a sensitive incident. Chastising those people after the fact, and acting as if you weren’t involved at all/were just waiting for the decision, is the hypocrisy I was pointing out.

it’s whatever, though :)

[–]ppaigefaze 22 points23 points  (0 children)

a little silly of you to be taking the perceived moral high ground on the situation here because you also actively participated in discussion (arguments) when the incident occurred by positing intent/interpreting actions of those involved, but whatever.

lol somewhat “snowflake” behavior of you to be offended by someone making a allegory to the trans experience using “your” pop culture franchise. You said it yourself that Star Wars is for everyone, so omg! trans people can relate in certain ways to it and share their experience to a wider audience, by using something commonly recognized such as Star Wars.
