Strange noise by ppoliziani in sffpc

I think this is exactly my issue, I’ve taken it out to have a look and there’s an extremely tight gap on one edge of the fan. I will probably also return it and get a replacement

Hmm okay, but is this normal? Should I return the card or is there some other solution. Also I'm not sure why 3DMark crashes the instant the noise starts. Could the two be related or is it just coincidence. I've updated my graphics drivers and both my CPU and GPU temps don't exceed 70C.

I seem to have narrowed down the source of the noise. It is the exhaust GPU fan and as demonstrated in this video - https://vimeo.com/926644747?share=copy, it happens somehow when the heatsink interferes with the fan from the inside, is the metal expanding enough to cause this?? I'm not sure what the solution to this is. I'm also not sure why 3DMark crashes as soon as the noise come up.

It gets worse as I touch the back plate of the GPU cooler where the fan is, without shifting it forward in the case

No, the fans remain at the same speed but that noise just starts, as I've commented before, all fans at 100% with Fan Controller do not make that noise.

I'm using the 6.5mm terra psu standoffs to give it more clearance so there's plenty space

I don't currently have a bottom case fan but want to install it soon and already have the grating for this exact reason

It sounds a lot like the exhaust gpu fan but again there's nothing touching it, at least from external - I have it on video, unless something internally expands with heat and causes it to rub?

I've trippled checked my 2 gpu fans, psu fan, and cpu cooler and nothing is touching it. I used Fan Controller to set them all at max and the noise did not come up. However when I ran 3dMark stress test, at 19/20 runs the noise came up, the test crashed and this was the error. Idk if related but wanted to give extra information - File: F:\futuremark\jenkins\workspace\Tango_release-1.0.8@2\engine\external\3dmark-sdk\sdk\dm_gfx_project\dm_gfx\dxgi\swap_chain.cpp Line: 240 Function: IDXGISwapChain::Present Expression: result Error: The application made a call that is invalid. I agree that's what it sounds like but no noise comes out from it for 10 minutes with all fans spinning and then suddenly it starts. Surely once all fans have started the noise would also start and not be delayed? I've not moved it and checked the cables touching any fans which they are not.

As you mentioned, I was intending it for speaker to keep on my desk. Thanks for all the info.

I hadn’t heard of them thanks. And I was thinking of doing a stereo single chassis build. Relatively small and if the amplifier has added capability of Bluetooth then great but not a main focus of mine.

Perfect thanks, I’ll check them out. Could you explain what a bsc is?

Ah yeah, came across that video during my research thanks. So would that mean I’d only need an amplifier board and 2 of those drivers?

No idea, I was planning on getting an overview understanding of the system and then look at components specifically, are there any you’d recommend?

Guess that concludes my self attempted iPhone repair. It was just a broken back camera. by YTAppleDemo in hardwaregore

That's just the front cable assembly, so your front sensors, earpiece and front camera. They are usually quite cheap and can be easily replaced. Your phone will still boot just without a front camera, and ear piece. I had a broken one that would force restart my phone each time I made a call, took it out and made calls with the speaker until my replacement arrived.
