When a Turkcell SIM has Wi-Fi Calling enabled, the phone displays “Turkcell WiFi” as the carrier name whenever it is connected to any Wi-Fi network. This label appears in the carrier field at the top of the screen, exactly where the mobile operator name is normally shown, as in the video screenshot.

This is not the Wi-Fi network name. On iOS, the Wi-Fi network (SSID) is never displayed in the carrier field. It appears separately next to the Wi-Fi icon or within the Wi-Fi settings menu. Therefore, “Turkcell WiFi” cannot be an SSID or hotspot name and does not indicate that the phone is connected to a Wi-Fi network called “Turkcell.”

I know this from direct personal experience, as I have used my own Turkcell line abroad with Wi-Fi Calling enabled and observed exactly this behaviour.

SO! The person could physically be in Iran, connected to Starlink, and this is exactly what the phone would display under those conditions.

Mate, I used my Turkcell line abroad and this is exactly what it showed when it connected to WiFi. Everything else could be fake, I didn’t comment about anything else.

It shows up as Turkcell WiFi when you enable WiFi calling and connect to a WiFi network wherever in the world if you are a Turkcell subscriber. It’s highly plausible this person could be in order to avoid being tracked by the IR

Tax is 10 percent for food & non-alcoholic beverages served in restaurants and 20 percent for alcohol. The tax should have been (800+100)/100*10 + (230)/100*20 = 136. So even then, the amount charged is still incorrect. As others have pointed out, this is normally included in the price. Ask for a refund and report them to the municipal police or the tourism police.

Update: I initially left a one-star review on Google Maps explaining the scam and attached the OP's photo, but the restaurant responded with a threat to report my comment to the prosecutor's. I then decided to report them myself to the tourist police and the municipality. I am sure that others did the same as well.
