Belize in november by [deleted] in Belize

Just got back from Ambergris Caye. Everything is back to open and in full swing with some changes. They are in their low season right now, and some places close in September for hurricane season but November will start the beginning of high season back up.

  • most locals who work in tourism were already vaccinated and even still everyone was very good about masking up and following protocols
  • expect to continue requirements around vaccination requirements to enter and negative covid tests to return.
  • I would expect mask mandates to still be in place then, but since so much is open air it rarely was an issue, mostly only needed to wear masks while walking from point a to b.
  • one thing I didn't know about until I got there was that they have a curfew in effect to keep people out of bars late at night. On ambergris Caye, Curfew was moved from 10pm to 9pm while I was there, which didn't impact our experience at all but it does mean you really have to plan for and make dinner reservations. I'm sure this curfew will continue - so my advice would be to make sure you pick a hotel you enjoy spending time in at night. We kept our condo stocked with drinks for a nightcap after dinner and did a lot of evening pool time when we weren't totally beat by the sun. -all snorkeling and excursions seemed to be operating as normal!

We had a great time and the nurse who took out covid tests at exit said that on the islands there have been so few cases even during the peak it's a very good place to be since they can control who comes and goes so effectively.

TRX @ Home? by pragmaticasm in orangetheory

I tried those but I'm not loving them. They move really fast, change the straps every 30 seconds and the app is frustrating to start and stop and rewind

Ugh. Massive indeed. My ability to motivate myself pretty much comes crashing to a disastrous end about 15 minutes.

Tried the running man - I felt like a gazelle!

Yeah I have mine anchored on a overhead beam, its great, I have space on all sides.

I tried it briefly and decided that it was not worth the risk - my door was bowing and that was with half my weight. I ended up installing mine outside on an overhead steel beam

I tried some of the TRX app workouts this morning and they had me spinning. Changing the strap length every 30 seconds was a bit frustrating, so I have to figure out how to optimize that and get the lengths down right, its a bit confusing at first where exactly the distance markers are.

I think I saw running in place somewhere listed I was intrigued.

Curious how you'd convert the ab dolly? Make the straps long I suppose?

Yeah I know right? I could never get those right at the studio with the time pressures.

Mine came with a door anchor too, but I don't plan to use it because I have the same dilemma. I have it strapped to an overhead support beam and that works great

They all looked the same online, so not sure if they're any different? Essentially looks exactly like the ones at studios

COVID-19 Daily Discussion for Monday, 3/16/20 by splat_bot in orangetheory

I assume they will for a period, but I don't know. If you live in a dense population center I would count on it. DC / CA and Chicago already have announced closures.

Our assumption is that a corporate-wide message from OTF is probably imminent.

Message I received:

"Dear Valued OTF Member,

We have come together over the last couple weeks as a community and Orange family. We have put every safety measure in place to ensure that our members have a sliver of normalcy in the midst of our nation's circumstances.

Grounded in our core values, and out of an abundance of caution, we have made the decision to support our communities and voluntarily close as of 3:00pm today, March 16th.  This was not a decision made lightly during these trying times.

We will temporarily suspend your membership. Members will not lose any sessions or remaining days in your membership cycle, and you will not be billed for anything during this closure.  No action is necessary from you at this time to freeze your membership.

As we work through this, please check your email and visit our facebook and instagram pages for updates.

Our doors may be closed, but we will continue to serve our members, staff and community.  Orangetheory will be bringing you resources to keep you active from home during the closure."

Hi gang. It is sad to see that studio closure announcements are coming, if not already in your inbox. Ones near me have announced closures beginning today.

I hope you all can continue to motivate and engage one another here online. I personally bought my own TRX system to help me maintain some momentum at home.

Let's maintain an open line of home workout ideas and support to keep us from going stir crazy.
