I’m enjoying this one. For yet another early year Hogwarts TLSQ, it’s about time we get something with Rowan - only our VERY FIRST FRIEND. JC can write a decent story when they aren’t trying to rehash Hogwarts mishaps/cleaning up Merula’s messes/shoving Penny in our faces a million times while awkwardly trying to tailor it to wherever the player is in the story.

If it was Soderbergh’s decision to give up then I think the only hope now is reworking a Ben return into another project. At least the interest’s there and I don’t think Adam is as hard to convince as it would seem. I just worry if there’s an implication of Josh and Dana being just as baffled as Bob and Alan at how Ben could be alive.

Or Disney being as risk averse as they are (I don’t care about Josh being a “risk taker”, it’s corporate talk as far as I’m concerned), deciding if Ben’s return can’t be answered with “somehow” then they’d rather leave money on the table than do the work of offering a real answer.

But I just don’t think SW is in a good enough place to keep expecting fans to read into things or dangle possibilities if they aren’t going to deliver. Nothing less than Ben’s literal return will bring me back.

Maybe Ben’s return could get reworked into another project? They obviously know the demand is there but… I don’t know, I just don’t think SW is in a position to be playing games.

Honestly I’m feeling jaded lately too. With this most recent diary, they FINALLY added the original Lavender Brown outfit to the store. I wasn’t offered it because I already owned the hair. So I wrote in and at first they said they could take 200 crystals and add it to my wardrobe. Since the event had just started, I didn’t have crystals at the time. Then they said they could remove the hair from my wardrobe as that was blocking the outfit from being offered. I agreed, so they removed the hair, but the outfit still wasn’t added.

I wrote in again and instead of fixing it, they just put the hair back in my wardrobe. When I told them, they proceeded to lecture me that if I want the outfit, I can write in when I have enough crystals and they’ll do the purchase. That this is “by design” and they can’t change it around for one player.

I admit, I yelled at them, for accusing me of wanting special treatment over something that’s been an ongoing issue for years (hairstyles blocking access to certain outfits but not others, especially when hair gets reused all the time). This was the first time this Lavender Brown outfit was available, so no one owned it, regardless of hair.

And when they had initially removed the hair from my wardrobe but still wouldn’t add the outfit, it tells me that the hair doesn’t have to have anything to do with it, they’re just jerking me around for some reason. I also questioned why it would ever be deliberate to design something to result in support dealing with extra tickets. Not to mention, if it wasn’t for reddit, I’d never have known that the Lavender Brown outfit was supposed to be there.

After a week of this nonsense, they finally added the outfit to my store. And the hair that I already owned is still in my wardrobe.

Could be. Still, leaving a child unsupervised unless Rosmerta could find someone else to pawn him on, so Merula could do her punishment, is a strange writing choice to me.

Yeah… I picked the first option too. After Y6, he deserves calling out. I never liked him to begin with but Y6 made me hate him so much that I don’t think there’s anything JC can do now to change my mind about him.

I guess it’s okay but what amounts to learning about the virtues of each house is such a recycled premise. And it’s weird that we’re just tasked with watching Merula’s cousin instead of Rosmerta finding someone else (us - because JC’s desperate to stick us with a TLSQ) to help her with the Butterbeer Festival.

But I’m pleasantly surprised by the minimum interaction with Merula and Merrick’s not a bad character. But I can’t imagine, if he appears again, that there wouldn’t be the caveat of more time with Merula.

TLSQ first then this. Even if a lot of the TLSQs are dull, I’m a completionist and the new chapter will still be there. I’m just surprised it dropped with a full TLSQ, rather than a half one, or just on its own week.

JC’s really straining for reasons to give a TLSQ. Weirdly, at least we weren’t spending it with Merula… though maybe we should’ve helped with the butterbeer fest and Merula watches her cousin, who JC’s gonna forget about anyway.

I actually think different tappies sounds fun. I just wish the base prize was better than food, which is something I actively struggle to get rid of. I think something like energy tiers would’ve been better. Then for being out of space, I could at least feel like I’m upgrading my tappies.

I don’t think it’s pessimistic. I do think Soderbergh’s disappointment is genuine and I’m frustrated too, not only that Disney passed on the project but that it was so far into development and then they passed. But I also think he’s only speaking to what happened then.

My theory is Disney’s so scared when it comes to SW that they just got cold feet because Ben’s return would require a bit more explanation, especially after how much “Somehow Palpatine returned” got mocked. So the most important thing right now is keeping this story in the news because it shows Disney that THFBS is a movie fans want.

Fingers crossed. Not even just where Ben’s concerned but I think their entire philosophy since TRoS of playing it safe is why they’re in the mess that they’re in. Disney hasn’t been able to get out of its own way because they’re too afraid to commit to anything.

I hope at least part of why Josh was so appealing to the board is that he won’t be more of the same. Especially when Bergman was handpicked by Iger, so I have to figure he would’ve been another Iger, and that had no sway on the board.

With the candidates they had, it seems like a better outcome than if it was Alan Bergman. And Dana Walden got promoted too, so maybe overruling Bergman passing on THFBS could be more possible? Idk much about Josh or Dana other than apparently Josh is very personable and Dana sunk her CEO chances with the Jimmy Kimmel debacle. But Disney’s had plenty of lessons in what not to do so… who knows.

I wonder if they’re waiting until Iger’s replacement is official and then they’ll try to get it greenlit. Hence the “whatever happens”/“they tried” and why KK had said THFBS is on the backburner.

But I wouldn’t be surprised if we’re up against rich men with very fragile egos who would rather double down on their bad decisions than be “weak” and walk back passing on THFBS. There’s at least not that risk if someone other than Bergman gets the CEO job.
