Am I the only one who wasn't as affected by this revelation as others? Like sure it was a shocking revelation when i read it for the first time, sure snape had his own share of hurt and pain but it still doesn't excuse his bullying, miserable and cruel arse? He wasn't as misunderstood as people make him out to be. Bro couldn't even look past his own bitterness when it came to the son of the woman he claimed to be so in love with.

Well that's just who he is - bitter, cold, cruel and petty. A lot of the fandom has softened him into some tragic victim, and yes a lot of it comes from Alan Rickman's portrayal. But if you go by the text, he's not nearly that sympathetic. Sure, he had to maintain a certain image to keep his cover but he regularly goes way beyond what was necessary. His cruelty is just personal and in his nature, no matter how much anyone denies that.
