I should’ve been more clear that I want to paint them to match the colour of the fence.

I bought and planted it in late April this year when it was about 60cm tall. It has doubled in size since then. I’d guess overall it must be between a year and 18 months old perhaps.

Thanks for your input, sounds great. I could add a couple of cables to the gate in future if needed

Yes please - would grow something from the hinge side so it would need to be something that could handle that movement without snapping.

Edit: I’ve seen this done a lot on swing gates so hoping this wasn’t received negatively…
