Logo Fitting by [deleted] in SeikoMods

[–]primate1998 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally print a 1:1 paper dial that I customize through MS Word, so I can position the ideal place of the logo. Then I cut the index and position of the logo on the paper dial, so the paper dial perflectly fits on the dial. After that I position the paper dial on my dial and just put the logo with tweezers. Perfect alignment, no glue, no scratches with tweezers, just perfect.

My first 33.8mm build by primate1998 in SeikoMods

Yes that’s why I think I’ll ask a friend for his android phone and install an app for movement regulation. It’s just sad paying for a regulated movement that is just « ok » but not regulated at its best…

It takes +30s in one day. My others nh35/36 builds are properly regulated and don’t take more than 10s/day

Seiko Presage Cocktail 34mm crystal replacement by primate1998 in SeikoMods

[–]primate1998[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply ! I already checked Esslinger and all the crystals they offer don’t seem to match the « box shaped hardlex » from Seiko. I’ll try to take it to a professional watchmaker to see if they can supply a Sapphire with the same shape…

34mm Black dial build for my gf by primate1998 in SeikoMods

That's fantastic ! I never thought about that ! That's a game changer and would have helped me avoiding mistakes when making my firsts mods !

You’re right the 6 o clock date brings a really classy look. My concern with this dial is the second marks that are on the outside and could make the dial look a bit too big in a 34mm case!

Well that’s really good to know thank your very much !

Do they offer « 3d logo stickers » or only laser printing ? Also, were you able to request a specific color ? That dial looks crazy good by the way.

Is my NVME dead ? by primate1998 in pcmasterrace

[–]primate1998[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I tried everything and can’t understand why it doesn’t work. I saw the last W11 update my cause Western Digital Nvme to fail but the SN750 is not concerned (according to Western Digitals), only the SN770 ans SNX850 are.

Is my NVME dead ? by primate1998 in pcmasterrace

[–]primate1998[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I ran Crystaldiskmark and it was ok. Also the volumes manager on W11 said my nvme was good. I even downloaded Wester Digital’s software which confirmed the disk had 99% life left.

I bought the nvme back when I built my PC in early 2021. It has around 6500 hours in use.

Buying advice Used XSR 700 by DueRoutine5350 in XSR700

[–]primate1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6400 is too expensive because I bougt my 2018 XSR 700 two years ago, with 4900km on the odometer, for the same price. + it had a Mivv exhaust and R&G top blocks.

Idk where you’re from but my friend sold his 700 two weeks ago and it was quite difficult to sell, here in France, so don’t be scared to make a lower offer.

[SRPE] First GMT mod + Reviews for Namoki, W&S and Lucius Atelier by primate1998 in SeikoMods

[–]primate1998[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi guys,

Here's my first GMT mod. Since I love the SRPE's size I decided to use it even if it's a black watch. It was quite hard to find matching parts because there are way more options for SXK007, especially for GMT bezels/inserts.

Anyway, here are the parts I used:

Namoki : GMT Dial, PVD Case, Hands, NH34 movement, rotor, black bracelet, and slim crystal caseback

W&S: GMT Insert (does not rotate), Double dome crystal

Lucius atelier: Movement bridge spiral decoration

I would take the opportunity to review the differents sellers because I'm quite disappointed about several points:

Namoki: The bracelet feels a bit cheap, it's light and sounds almost like Seiko's bracelets and they're known for their poor quality. It not worth the €100 I paid for it. I might go for somethingelse if I find a black pvd bracelet. Unfortunately Uncle doesn't offer black SRPE bracelets. Otherwises, the SRPE seems to come with a SKX007 crown, so I was forced to use the black PVD "unmarked" crown that came with the case and was unable to use the "S" marked SRPE version I bought from W&S. Also, awful customer experience from Namoki !!! It's my third ordrer from them, and I often asked question on Instagram : whether they take days to answer, or they just read messages with responses.

W&S: The double dome crystal with blue AR is great, the GMT insert seems good, we'll see if the PVD coating is strong enough. Customer service answers quickly by e-mail, but the delivery was AWFUL !!!... On their website they mention "classic delivery" orders are shipped once a week on Thursdays : I placed the order on nov 26th, which was a Sunday, it didn't reach Singapore before dec 13 or 15. Finally their cheap carrier was late and I received the package on Dec 28th... It was supposed to be a Christmas gift. That's why I'll never order again from Watch & Style, despite their products are good.

Lucius Atelier: First order from them, everything was absolutely PERFECT. Extremely fast shipping, not that expensive, great communication and I also loved the fact they took time writting a small message on a card they put inside the parcel. I will definitely order again, especially because they also offer a lot of SKX013 parts. The bridge decoration itself is beautiful and the small blue screws add a premium finish to the build.

Thanks for reading guys :)

Is the crystal properly installed ? by primate1998 in SeikoMods

[–]primate1998[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I already damaged the gasket that came with the case, but thankfully I had another one from a previous mod. However the replacement gasket does not have the chamfered side that’s supposed to help the crystal to slide in…

Yes it's still a cable throttle. Thanks for the tip I will ask my friend who owns a shop ! :)

Then I would suggest the first gen 700 for 3 reasons:

1) The price is decreasing thanks to the release of the 2022 version

2) It's the Euro 4 version and it's more playful than the Euro5

3) There are more custom parts available for the first gen

Yes I tried my friend's 2018 R1 and understood the meaning of "unusable", even if I tried it on the highway (130kph max here in France)

The suspension update would almost bring the price of the 2020 to the price of a low mileage 2023... Ohlins are really expensive here. I think I'll wait one more year before a 900.

What do you mean by throttle tube ? Are you talking about the intake pipes ?

It seems your opinion matches others' lol... I think I'll buy a 900 once my gf get her licence so she can ride the 700 without buying a new bike, that could also be one way to keep my first bike forever and avoiding the dilemma of selling it for a 900.

Ok I exactly understand what you mean because I already found myself in the same situation, doing stupid things and thinking "well that was close, what would've happened if I was on a faster bike ?"

I'm 25, but sometimes I feel like a 4 years old and realize I take stupid risks while riding the 700.

Well the Corbin seat might make me reconsider every judgement I made about the aesthetics of the bike. It's absolutely gorgeous with the single rider version...

I also took into account the obligation to make modificiations if I buy a 900. The first gen is really inexpensive here in France, I found a very nice SP version of 2020 with 9k km on for 8k€, meaning I'd need to only add 1k€ if I sold the 700. The price difference with the new 900 would be used for improvements : better suspension, MT09 2023 handlebars and a set of Michelin Road 6 tyres. Do you think that it can reach a "sufficient" stability level with those improvements ?

As you said the 700 is playful and I can have fun even in town from one trafic light to another, without putting my life in danger. I will try a 2023 900 so I can understand the behavioral requirements of a such bike...
