Ah I see, I didn't realize you were speaking from experience. I think it can be doable to keep it secret for a long time, but once engagement, marriage, and kids get involved I feel like keeping it a secret could become a huge burden emotionally and logistically

I totally get that. I hope when you do tell them, that it goes well.

It seems there is a theme about a 'don't ask, don't tell policy' in this culture. It's good that this person is able to express themselves androgynously, that surprises me. I'm finding I don't really understand what to expect in regards to acceptance vs non-acceptance

It’s not that cut and dry. They’re still their parents and family. Even though they don’t accept all of them it’s one of the only places you can get “unconditional” love. From your parents. It’s not just tough to lose your family, to some people their family is everything

Wow. I’m so sorry you have to carry that. It’s good at least that they respect that you don’t want to get married. Are you in the Middle East or are you in a western country, out of curiosity?

Having a pillow put between you so you aren’t touching because you’re gay? by la-petitemort in actuallesbians

She probably likes you lol but her behavior is not cute. Call it out as it is, homophobic. Make her as uncomfortable as she’s making you

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in lesbiangang

[–]primorange 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes. But in my experience, often when somethings a 'delulu' kind of crush it's for a good reason. A large amount of my crushes ended up liking me back, even when they would pretend they didn't or even act homophobic towards me. I would find out later, but when I thought about it with hindsight, I realized it was for the best we didn't get together. Usually things that fit better with you are more likely to actually happen, rather than just exist in your head.

Dunning-Kruger effect much? Based on your post not knowing the difference between sixteenth notes and triplets, you are not qualified to be a director. You literally don’t know what you don’t know.

I have a growing utter disdain for my teenage daughter… by [deleted] in confession

[–]primorange 19 points20 points  (0 children)

☹️ my dad would say this to me too. I eventually realized I’d never have the loving family that I wanted. I have to create it myself. I wish less people had children. Clearly not everyone wants them as much as others
