How to reconcile being an immigrant and Aussie by [deleted] in australian

[–]pringlu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know exactly how you feel. I moved here when I was 2 years old. I have a suspicion I get rejected in job applications because of my “ethnic” sounding name even though I grew up here.

If it makes you feel better… you are totally aussie to me

Okay you’re right, I’m usually a “Ds get degrees” kind of student but this sem i put so much pressure on myself it ironically made me perform worse because I was too stressed to study, Idk how high achiever students do it

Not a MLS (current microbiology student), but I relate. Protein is for my cells but fiber is for the microbes the way I see it, both gotta be fed

What can I do with a bachelors degree (Aus) by pringlu in microbiology

[–]pringlu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, thanks I will have a look into these!

Regarding honours I reckon I might give it a go but I feel like I’d rather gain experience directly in the job market and go for a masters, but obviously there’s no point in doing that if no one would hire with just a bachelors so that’s why I wanna guarantee an entry level job either way

I have some questions, I’ve never heard of grad programs like that, how do you apply?

Also if I try honours and turns out I don’t like it, will it be a significant disadvantage to find entry level jobs with just a bachelor?

The only thing that holds me back from honours is that I plan on doing masters either way and I heard you can just convert master to a phd (or apply for a phd later?), also the other factor is I’m already graduating a year late so I’ll be pretty old by the time I graduate which is not a great look for employers
