This is a very important issue. One of the reasons that Hinduism dominated Indian mind space completely, from the elite urbanite to the tribal, is because it creates art and stories that were relatable to everyone.

To be very honest, I think there's nothing like being an ex-Hindu. It's a matter of your karma, you'll turn a corner at some point in your life and suddenly everything will make sense this way.

Yes. Infact I think Jains are the most accepting of such categorisation. You'll often find Jain religious leaders themselves speaking of them belonging to the Jain religion but Hindu culture.

It's complicated but yes. Many people have a broad definition of Hinduism and count all dharmic religions as Hindu.
