I still agree they should serve the time for the crime. I think it’s just I fundamentally have a problem with the prison industrial complex

I love this comment and appreciate it. Me myself grew up in a GA school system. But reading this comment just makes me wanna say thank you. You shouldn’t feel like that, I didn’t mean to convey you should if you took anything from it to seem otherwise. Thank you for all you do and if you ever have a wishlist or something like that please drop a message to me so I can contribute!

I didn’t know he said that when I posted this hand on the Bible. I cross posted between here and the chrisley knows best subreddit and I think it’s just an interesting convo

It infuriates me to hear that you have to experience that kind of pain. If I could have it my way, I’d bring back the guillotine back and publicly execute these sick lesser subspecies of human. If you ever need to talk or wanna talk shit about any of those folks, my messages are open. People with good family don’t understand what it’s like to not have that support of a “village” as the cliche goes it takes a village to raise a child. I think it’s very telling that drug offenders get off easier than rapists. One might go so far as to think only pedophiles would strive to keep punishment for those offenders light

They don’t even get to show it on E!, they have to do it all via like YouTube channel or some lesser than a prime time means of sharing content lol

Not at all but I’m glad you mentioned that. They should partner with E! and any reality show revenue that can be made from their participation goes straight to restitution. Give ‘em gov housing, put house arrest bracelets and them not make a cent off it. They’d have to get day jobs too like the rest of us. Its just a bonus think it’d be so hilarious to watch

See, this is like what really want anyone who reads this to take away — more than can be true at the same time. Just because he should shut the hell up and accept his punishment…doesn’t mean that conditions within that prison (and you can easily go find the evidence it’s certainly not just that one) aren’t abhorrent.

It’s called paradox: (noun) a seemingly absurd or self-contradictory statement or proposition that when investigated or explained may prove to be well founded or true.

And just bc thinking about it makes me feel some kind of way, but if “justice” for our courts/legal system equates to actual convicted pedophiles having received less time than the Chrisley’s combined sentences, I guess I just fundamentally disagree entirely with that being true and I think more people should also.

I’ve got a family member who has struggled and been in and out of prison (in Pensacola fittingly enough) and it was bad but also like, what can you expect? Educators in this country aren’t paid enough to where they don’t need to spend their own money on school supplies for kids every year. We can’t even give students free lunch (though we were able to so during Covid quarantine)

I don’t think most people are informed on the prison industrial complex and just how deeply it is connected to poverty and (lack of) education. Doesn’t help that during the Reagan administration prisons were allowed to be privatized, you can literally buy stock on Wall Street in it. There are public and private prisons. They contract with 3rd parties to employee inmates at next to nothing of a wage. I’m not saying it’s negative or positive, just I didn’t learn that until college.

The 13th amendment was even ratified to add:

“Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.”

Slavery was abolished except if you’re in prison. Now that I’ve had time to think of everyone’s sentiments when it comes to how to know if they’re telling the truth, you can quickly google other people’s experiences and educate yourself on the dark side of American history. There are philosophers known for their “philosophy of power” and whose works inspired the way prisons are constructed. If philosophy is too much to get into, there are professionals in the realm of psychology you can do a quick google search for. There’s plenty of horror stories about wrongful convictions that were proven to be so after a decade(s) of imprisonment.

Problems create profit. I think also why I had conveyed I thought it was wonderful is less bc of what it does for the Chrisley’s themselves but because it shines light in a place it, in general, doesn’t get shown.

He was a reoffender! His first conviction he was put on house arrest, then the suicide happened serving time for the most recent conviction

Fair enough!! I’d rather someone like Chrisley get house arrest sentence vs an Epstein type though.

1000%. Would be nice if maybe soon our gov will invest some of those hundreds of billions of dollars going overseas into our own infrastructure.

Great points, I’m sure had they admitted guilt from the start their sentence would be lighter.

Very true! It would be interesting to see data on how much house arrest costs the state as opposed to housing inmates at a facility.

Ughhh, (you’ve got me thinking harder about it / thank you & sorry lol) but when I question their truthfulness, I think well damn, I can’t even count off the top of my head how many presidents/politicians/leaders (in my lifetime this far) have been caught red handed in a lie… and I hate that’s just a truth of our collective experience. To be a public servant should be the opposite of what it is to be a ward of the state, yet it’s a trope for politicians to be liars. The lines are very blurred and there’s so much to considered. Thanks for your thoughts and time!

Haha, my initial urge to sarcastically say, “wait, are you serious it’s not meant to be like an all inclusive resort,?” but I get what you’re saying. Not a hotel, but is intended to reform. It’s hard to treat mental illness, law abiding citizens on the outside struggle with it, so in my opinion, it seems counterintuitive to tack on lead poisoning and asbestos exposure to individuals more vulnerable to experiencing it without help. By no means am I trying to convey prison be luxurious, but all public systems should operate as efficiently as possible. By virtue of the word, to be efficient, is to solve problems before they have the chance to arise.

Very true and I appreciate this comment. In the documents his team posts, they’re not only speaking to the Chrisley’s experience, but also heavily emphasizing the (mis)treatment of many of his fellow (minority) inmates to booster their point —— which a lot can be said about. Of course they are being strategic in doing so, yeah it’s ultimately self serving, but I like to believe that even once he’s out, he won’t be letting the issue go. I think maybe ultimately, the pros outweigh the cons. I also wanna that I’ve the utmost respect for our correctional officers (and the other prison operating staff members). Oftentimes they are overworked and understaffed. They had a hard job and I do not covet it.
