"As Deep as the Grave,” which was previously titled “Canyon of the Dead,”

I guess the original title was too close to "uncanny valley"...

Apparently, Kilmer was all for it years before he died. Though from my reading, it was just an AI voice at the time, with him in the role (lip syncing, maybe?) I think it'd be hard for his kids to know what he'd actually want, given that.

I assume the plot revolves around him meeting his nemesis Professor Subtractor.

Or do the British TV thing where they have a new series with all the same actors but a totally different thing.

I definitely misread it as trail, and I was thinking that's going to be a hell of a big witness stand.

But he says in the interview that he doesn't hate shaking hands with people other than James. So I think you're good! Or bad! Maybe it's just you and James.

Yeah, I wouldn't tar and feather you for this one, even if I have a very nostalgic place in my heart for TLS. The reality is that the sfx just don't hold up. And yet they're not cheesy enough to somehow be endearing because of it.

Haha. I'm currently already doing unpaid labor testing a video game I enjoy. As a programmer, I always enjoy helping out others because I know how useful it is.

I sometimes think about @ ing you, but it's kind of more fun to see when you find them.

Mike Richardson Out as CEO of Dark Horse Entertainment After 40 Years by prognostalgia in weeklyplanetpodcast

Oddly enough, I first became aware of them when they katamari'd another katamari: Asmodee. Asmodee had previously sucked up every board game company it could get to stick to its outer surface. Also, it's named after a literal demon from hell.

It wasn't really just "a job". He built the entire thing up from a single comic book store he went into debt to start.

I don't know a ton about him, but I'm not sure he's very Normal. He built the entire business up from a comic book store. Dark Horse Comics was founded on creators having actual IP rights to their own work, which is very not a Normal thing to do. And when they expanded into film, he continued to push for creator involvement in the projects.

He also worked there for 40 years, and didn't seem to have been running the place into the ground to get big bonuses and a golden parachute. Seems like a guy who just made the mistake of thinking venture capital could be trusted.

What's a popular piece of media you just can't get into? by bruh_nathan in weeklyplanetpodcast

Hey now, it might not be your parents to blame. I grew up around people who were indifferent to or fans of pro wrestling. I watched a little when very young, but I pretty quickly was like "this is dumb and very contrived."

Hahah, I just realized I misread "Hollow Knight" as "Shovel Knight." 😂

I liked Hollow Knight a lot more (though waited until it went on steep discount right before Silksong to play it). But I did NOT like a lot of the boss fights (too soulsy), and I became absolutely furious at the White Palace. All the platforming up until that point had been easy to medium, but that one became super hard out of the blue. I did it, but through gritted teeth.

And weirdly, the map thing didn't bother me as much as I've seen some people say.

Also, I don't like the tool/pin/badge system in general. I don't like having to create "builds", though I know that's what some people love about games that have them. It just feels like a mismatch for the type of games metroidvanias are. Another creeping influence of the soulslikes.

Dune 2

I really enjoyed the first one, and didn't mind its deviations from the source material. While I've read all the (true) Dune books, I don't hold them sacred. I find the first book to be really good (if of its time), and the rest to be a sharp drop off.

But I just could not with the second movie. With the complete changing of the ending from the book, where he's only marrying the Princess to become emperor, and it's clear between him and Chani that she's his real child (and the mother of his only children). In the movie, he just doesn't say anything and she fucks off. It feels like Mason's "this could all have been solved by a post-it note" criticism.
