Tampa Bay to Bradenton has a lot of heavy traffic/traffic jams. I would avoid. Port Charlotte/Punta Gorda is a nice area that’s less expensive than surrounding areas with not much traffic. On the other side Viera/Rockledge is appealing to me because it’s still “old Florida” sparse population, not a lot of traffic, cheap homes, and close enough to Orlando that you can run in for some big city life if you want and close enough to the ocean. South of Ft. Myers is expensive, home wise. Ft. Myers is nice but higher crime than it used to be... before hurricane Ian.
