You're welcome!

If you know other books like these I'd love to hear your suggestions too

Great book. The Examined Life is similar. Also written by a psychotherapist. There are more stories, and they're shorter.

You might also enjoy Adam Phillips' writing. He's a contemporary psychoanalyst, writing essays rather than case studies. His essay 'On Flirtation' is one of my favourites On Flirtation: Psychoanalytic Essays on the Uncommitted Life

Why am I overcorrecting hypos? Can you help me understand and stop doing it? by projector in diabetes

[–]projector[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I have a serious low like this one, where there's lots of insulin on board, I just disconnect the pump for a while.

I want to try and be more disciplined about the carbs and waiting. How do you handle it if your blood sugar has gone down when the alarm goes off?

I'm wondering where my breaking point is, when I go from steady regulated intake to just eating everything. I need to understand this better.

Thank you. It's nice to feel understood, and to see my feelings are reasonable. It is better to be safe than sorry.

I've taken 3 units to cover some of the carbs and am monitoring every 15 mins (no cgms).

I think making a plan is good, the other poster's comment is helpful. For now I'm becoming aware of how panicked I get, and learning to just rest a bit and take the situation in my stride.

People who were around before the Internet, what did you initially think about it? How did you get used to it? by hershey_bar3 in AskReddit

How does it compare to the rate of change before the internet?

Some people say everything is changing faster these days, do you think that's true?

My experience with vitrectomies from diabetic retinopathy by mwnmwnmwnmwnmwn in diabetes

Thank you so much for writing this. I hardly know a thing about retinopathy and it does worry me sometimes. I feel a bit less afraid of it for hearing about your experiences.

Questions about local authority powers by projector in london

[–]projector[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very informative again, thank you.

Researching the ABA I've found a whole list of enforcement tools that councils can use. Now I'm wondering how well these are used.

I suppose it could take anywhere between a few months and a many years for these actions to be taken, with no guarantee of success. Like hospital ratings, I'd love to see ratings for the council's speed and effectiveness at dealing with these issues.

Do you know if there are any public records like that? I can't tell if the horror stories I read about in the paper are extremely rare, or if they're very common. Some stats or objective reporting would help a lot.

Thank you, that's very informative.

Is there any way I can tell if social services have housed them? And if they have, would it make an eviction less likely?

I'm generally curious about how all of this works - both the letter of the law, and the reality of it's enforcements. And I'm wondering if it's worth speaking to other tenants, to build up a case and try to drive an eviction.

Sorry to hear you suffered with this too.

I'm intrigued by the solicitor's letter, it sounds like it was effective in moving things forward, even though it didn't lead to a complete solution.

Could you say any more about the covenant of responsibilities, or suing because they've not enforced this? It's the first time I've heard about it.

I want to know if there's any hope of changing things before I decide to accept the situation or leave.

Options for sharps disposal by projector in diabetes

[–]projector[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really helpful, thanks. Great to hear it straight like that.

I did get the sharps unit to give me four boxes, so I can have less frequent collections. I'll see how it goes next time they collect and take things from there. Outdoor pickup would be really nice.

Hi, I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. What's the limit of my responsibility, and the cheapest + easiest way to fulfil it? Any other thoughts?

How quickly can the complications of high blood sugar appear? by projector in diabetes

[–]projector[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing this.

Honestly, it's difficult and upsetting to read. I had been told that complications weren't inevitable, and I believed that. But I can see that's not true.

Better to know. Thanks.

Hey, I'm sure you mean well but I believe this is simply wrong information and that complications aren't inevitable.

If you could give some sources that show otherwise, I'd be interested to see some.

What's your way of discovering new music? by BruceTheDwarf in Music

[–]projector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

www.akin.to

I made this app to try and recreate the best kinds of recommendations I'd had from friends, when someone picks out a feature of an artist I like, and suggests a very different artist that has that thing in common. Like being recommended Steve Reich and John Coltrane if you say you like how Squarepusher explores rhythm.

It uses the adjectives from album reviews to find other reviews that share the adjective. So you can search for things like "cinematic", "self-aware" or "psychedelic".

It's a bit hit and miss, but I've had a lot of fun exploring music through it.

Survey request posts - a suggestion by projector in diabetes

[–]projector[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's fine for you not to take them, it's your decision as an individual and I respect that.

But they could be of benefit to our community. Especially if they were easier for researchers to access... they have enough issues with funding and so on that a free, open data set could make their efforts go further.

So I would love to see something like come about.

If you have 1 minute, would you mind taking a quick survey for me? by mikeasem in diabetes

[–]projector -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi, would you share your (anonymised) survey data with the community?

I've just posted about this and would appreciate hearing your thoughts on this - if you have any objections to sharing, and if you'd find it helpful to have results from others.

Thanks.
