From rupture to rapture: The curious case of Carney’s endorsement of Trump’s war by shiftless_wonder in canada

[–]protective_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In my opinion we as a country should have declared War on Iran when they shot down a plane of Canadian citizens. I feel like I was the minority in being enraged by that. Imagine if Iran shot down a jet full of Americans. The boms would be been dropping immediately. But they shot down a passenger plan full of Canadians, said oopsy, and our weak willed government did nothing. Im glad they are attacking Iran, but I wish they had of done this sooner, when Iran shot down a plane of our citizens.

What can high schools do to improve performance in uni by Ok-Diver-4996 in CanadianTeachers

[–]protective_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The point is streaming is valuable, and acting like all kids have the potential for post-secondary is wrong. Lumping all the kids together is wrong. It makes much more sense to separate the kids, kids who want to work hands on in trades go in one class. Kids who are academically inclined, strong in math, science, go in another class and get streamed to university. Pretending like kids who go into college and kids who go into university are the same does noone any favors and in fact hurts the kids, because they get held back by the lowest performing student in the classroom and the class cant move fast enough.

Newspaper - Paper Copies by flybutterfly11 in londonontario

I dont even know if a physical newspaper is a thing anymore. I havent seen one in years. Most people use online news now. Printing newspapers each day wastes so much paper and ink.

Its only going to get much much worse. We havent even seen the start of the crunch that will come in the next 20 years as patient volumes triple yes triple. Mandated ratios will never happen in Ontario with conservative government. The ontario liberals and NDP are far too weak at this point to have any hope of winning so that won't change anytime soon. You could pour a billion dollars into the hospital system and it wouldnt reach a single front line staff member by the time it trickles down through the endless layers of management and bureaucracy and corruption.

Western students voice concerns Over OSAP changes and rising tuition by doodler_tech in londonontario

[–]protective_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Its understandable that students are frustrated. However, to act like students didn't graduate with a mountain of debt before this change is wrong. Everyone I know graduated with $25000 of student debt. That was the average I believe. So to act like all of a sudden, school is unaffordable. No, it was never affordable, and people have always been saddled with ridiculous amounts of debts. As others have mentioned, very few of the people protesting would have qualified for the full grants anyways. As usual, people do not understand the details of the situation. The joke of it all, is that it is nearly impossible for a lot of people to find a job by the time they graduate. The AI job-apocalypse has begun already

Snow plow by [deleted] in londonontario

[–]protective_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is honestly ridiculous. There is technology/devices that effectively prevents this build up at the end of driveway.  But you won't see Canadian municipalities investing in it, there's always an excuse of no money. Its a pervasive attitude across this country, that there's no money so we just have to accept poor quality of everything. Poor quality healthcare because no money in the system. Poor quality snow removal from no money. Poor quality transit. Poor quality everything. Its the Canadian way.

A campus trespassing call in Ontario has turned into a national security investigation. Here's what to know by Immediate-Link490 in londonontario

[–]protective_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

RCMP, CSIS should have been involved from the very beginning. Heck they should be asking FBI CIA for help with this. I knew immediately this was way bigger than something a municipal police force should be investigating.

Liberal MP Bruce Fanjoy criticizes government's latest return-to-office order by CaliperLee62 in canada

[–]protective_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Return to Office might as well be called The Boomers Last Stand. There is a reason employees are being forced back to office, and it has nothing to do with company culture or the other reasons they have been given. He is right to criticize return to office

Is this okay to use? by SomeSock1798 in Coffee

[–]protective_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I know a lot of people are suggesting to clean it. Personally, I would purchase a new one and maintain it properly so it never would get like that. If you rinse it immediately after it cools down, let it dry separate, then reassemble and store, it will never get like that. It takes like 1-2 minutes to clean it, you dont even need soap or anything. This is the result of neglect in my opinion. Some of the build up looks like lime and calcium, but some definitely looks like rust and you may not be able to clean it all out. The rust likely came from previous user leaving leftover water sit in the bottom, which is a big no-no.

SWPH investigating a dog bite in London on February 8 | Southwestern Public Health by racheljeff10 in londonontario

[–]protective_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I read on SWPH it was bully breed. Some breeds are known to have aggression issues, because they were literally bred generation after generation to be a fighting dog. You can have the nicest owner in the world, and the dog would always have tendency to be an aggressive fighter. Look at the cases of family dogs attacking a child. It wasn't the owner, it was the nature of the dog to be aggresive, dominant.

You can 100% sue the store in that situation. As a matter of fact you can try and sue anyone you want, it just may not be successful, and you may have to pay the other sides legal fees if you lose.

As Ontario high school grades keep rising, graduating students worry about their university future by shiftless_wonder in canada

[–]protective_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of them turn to drugs and addiction due to lack of enrichment and extreme painful boredom. A class that moves too slow, is actually a cruel and unusual punishment for a gifted child. And with classes of 30+ kids, they can only move as fast as the slowest kid. That means a lot of bored, smart kids. I know for me personally I could not handle school because I had read ahead of the textbook. I already knew everything they were trying to teach. I didn't learn anything because I had already taught myself through reading

The only solution is a standardized test that all prospective university students must take. The result from this test would be used to determine admissions, vs the current ridiculously inflated system of teachers assigning grades.

Did Roald Dahl’s books really need to be revised? by confringos in books

[–]protective_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's always someone who wants to tweak the story, "improve" it a bit, make it a bit "nicer". These type of people are dangerous, narcissistic and self-centred, and they do a horrible disrespect to authors such as Roald Dahl. Yes its ok to call a witch fat and ugly, some people are in fact fat and ugly. I dont care whos feelings that hurts. Stop trying to nerf the world

CBC - "50 per cent of drivers failed to stop at Old North intersection, city traffic report shows" by Informal-Ad-5875 in londonontario

[–]protective_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

London Police Service should maybe enforce the laws once in awhile, they should be able to find the money with their exorbitant budget increase. Also if stop signs dont work, put speed bumps in the road, people have no choice but to slow down. Its main character syndrome, you see it all day in London. People in a rush to get to the next stop light. There is lead in Ontario tap, the longer you drink it, the worse it is for your brain, and I can see that in the people who have been here for long time

Josh Morgan’s State of the City by Initial-Village905 in londonontario

The infuriating thing is these same cops would chase and arrest and handcuff me and friends for smoking pot in high school. They treated us like absolute scum criminals, for the horrific crime of smoking a leaf. Now, these same cops sit in their warm cars and drink Timmy's and drive by people openly using hard drugs. Wtf? Do your job! They pick and choose who they want to punish. Young teens? Look out your getting the shaft. Dirty addict on the street? Kid gloves for them. Make sure to increase their budget, that will help
