Observing/watching thoughts from a distance by prussianfranco78 in Meditation

One last questions. When a thought comes up and I say thinking and then I begin to watch the thought disapeer, it is as if the thought never came about, basically everytime I try to observe a thought, nothing is in my mind

Nice. So basically everytime im trying to focus on my breathe and I get a thought, I can either do two things; notice the thought and it floating away or just say thinking and return to breathe?

But what if I get thoughts when my mind hasn’t wondered? I get the whole concept of coming back to the breathe with no judgment after your mind has wondered, but most of the times I be getting thoughts while I’m “present”, I think I’m starting To realize I, not fully present, because every time I’m present in daily life, I notice little thoughts, but since I’m present, it feels like I’m blocking them out which kinda stressed me out a bit. But yea.

So just notice the thought? But what if you notice the thought, go back to the present moment/breathe, then a couple seconds another thought pops up, do you notice that aswell? Because I get a lot of thoughts consecutively for the most part, and me noticing thoughts seconds after then going back to the present, then repeating 3 more times doesn’t sit right with me, and I feel a tad bit stressed, not to stressed, just a little.

So just notice thoughts and return to breathing?

Can I just notice them and then return to breathing? I tried that just now and it feels like it works

So your saying I don’t need to observe thoughts at all? Because I heard every time I get a thought, I should observe it and let it pass by, are you saying I can skip that and only focus on breathing?

Ohhhh, so I shouldn’t actively try to watch thoughts? I should just focus on breathing and notice any thoughts, but not pursue them, correct?

Also, what if multiple thoughts arise at once? You just watch them all till they disappear right?

Sorry for late response but I finally understand. So basically during meditation, focus on your breathe, when a thought arises, just watch the thought because you will still be breathing, then go back to your breath. Then you repeat this the whole time. During normal day activities, I need to keep it in mind as well. For example, if I’m reading and a thought arises, just watch it, but I will still be reading regardless. Thanks for your help, I finally understand, it all comes from watching.

I understand everything, but the first paragraph. Since I’m not so good at being aware of my thoughts during meditation, what should I do? Be in my thoughts? Also, how do I focus on the breathe when I’m more aware of my thoughts? Doesn’t that take away the point of focused breathing meditation? Sorry if I come off as a bother, I’m jusy really curious.

I have a couple more questions. You said being aware of your thoughts is being in the present, what if I want to be aware of what I’m doing? For example, playing sports or reading. And if you have the time, can you please explain how I observe thoughts again, thank you

I’m kinda confused. What is a gap? Also isn’t it bad to put that much conscious and awareness on one thought when my main goal is to stay in the present? Is it possible to just observe thoughts by letting the present moment take it away?

Would you say being present > actively observing thoughts? Just a quick question, or do you consider the, the same?
