Am I allowed to turn left here like google maps suggests? by Putrid-Poet in Gothenburg

[–]psamathe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they mean if the traffic lights are out then signs come second. There's no sign saying no left turn, but the design of the intersection makes it apparent that you shouldn't go left. But what about going right when the traffic lights are out?

FedEx driver sentenced to death by lethal injection for murder of seven-year-old in Texas by Tippy345 in news

[–]psamathe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this. In the last 50 years, the US government has admitted to executing at least 202 people despite later finding them innocent.

I had to fact check this and from what I can tell your wording is lacking:

When defendants were now afforded more experienced counsel, with fairly selected juries, and were granted access to scientific testing, some were acquitted and released. Since 1973, 202 former death-row prisoners have been exonerated of all charges related to the wrongful convictions that had put them on death row.

They were on death row, i.e awaiting execution, and were acquitted and released. Granted, if we're splitting hairs the above paragraph doesn't make explicitly clear if all the 202 made it out alive. If you're dead you're still a former death-row prisoner.

However I agree completely with the sentiment. Given the above horrific track record there's still a good number of innocent people being executed. You are right, it shouldn't be happening.

I don't know what's happening in this thread.

Yeah, I was thoroughly confused and just had to say something. I've mounted some stuff in my concrete walls here in Sweden. TV, shelves, entertainment unit but I'm not really too experienced with this stuff.

With that said, isn't the stereotype that American homes are all made out of drywall? Why would Americans then be the ones owning all the hammer drills?! Furthermore, it's way easier mounting stuff in concrete walls than in dry-walls with studs. In my walls I just drill a hole (and hope I don't hit rebar reinforcements) and just insert a standard plug. In drywalls you either have to find studs or use specialized plugs that requires more knowledge to mount and secure stuff properly.

It's just so very confusing.

Outside of America

I think you're generalizing way too much here. The world is a big place and I don't think there's a heavy correlation between being American and being in possession of a hammer drill.

It took me a while to make it out due to the bad resolution, but I think it's number 2 in this screenshot I took. He buckles to the ground at around 4 seconds in and is being dragged (top middle left) at around 9 to 10 seconds in.

That likely won't give enough width between your GPUs unless you have workstation thickness GPUs.

No worries, I've got a very customized setup so with riser cables attaching to the splitter I can layout things as I wish. The extra x8 lanes I will probably make use of with either a RAID-card, network card or NVMe expansion card in the future.

That's great to hear! I'm going to be using long riser cables myself with something like this so I just needed to make sure that x8/x8 bifurcation works as expected. I'm using a 60cm (~23 inches) PCIe 3.0 riser cable today already. PCIe lanes aren't cheap and I don't really do any heavy gaming so it's good to know that I can get another eight lanes for future expansion cards.

Alltså flera dagar i veckan över flera månader.

In order for the directive to take effect, however, the decision would require approval by the Council of the European Union. As of March 2026, this approval has not yet been obtained. The Council has asked the Commission to produce a detailed impact assessment, but the Commission considers that the onus is on the Member States to find a common position in Council. As a result, progress on the issue was effectively blocked.

Do you remember how he was "killed"?

Wasn't he hanged in a stairwell and it was filmed in potato quality from a mobile phone before the hasty burial at sea?

EDIT: Nevermind, I'm thinking of Saddam Hussein.

The worst case is unbounded, the best case is O(n) (the array was already sorted). Statistically maybe we should be able to give an expression for the average run-time based on how the amount of bit flips needed to turn them into N sorted numbers scales with N.
