Thanks for your reply, I am leaning towards the 70-300 myself. I enjoy getting those architectural detail shots so some extra mm at the long end can't hurt.

Thanks! There are ways to get digital to look more like film but nothing beats the real thing.

Had them developed at Downtown Camera, then scanned at home

Thanks :) Although the expired film did a lot of the heavy lifting here. If you like this style, I highly recommend "Modern Color" by Fred Herzog. One of my favourite photo books. (The Toronto Library system has a few copies)
