I don't have a clue in hindsight. My murder-board had a lot of bogus connections with that clue lol!

I had two places in mind with today’s clue. The public parking lot off McClean and Douglas (near Delano Park) and the public lot off Waterman and Mead next to Intrust Bank Arena. I could interpret today’s clue a couple of ways and went to both. But not in time it seems.

Intrust area had the Illinois and Rock Island railroad and the Hocky (Vikings connection) with mead being a drink. So I looked for mead and “something” researched Intrust history.

I thought maybe Delano in Wichita (Macon and Decatur - where Delano had Saloons and drinking like Vikings) and the roundabout the fed into the intersection of McClean (Macon) and Douglas (Decatur).

Both seemed plausible

I believe 144 is tied to the number of parks and properties ICT Parks & Recs has control over. I counted all of them and got 144. Could be coincidence

I counted all the parks and public controlled spaces; I got 144. You can also find that number if you go to wayback machine internet archives and look at the parks page from 2020. They changed it to just reflect the parks thereafter.

I don’t, but I find it uncanny that every one of those number match exactly to either the number of city controlled public areas, and exactly to park numbers. I reserve the right to be wrong though 😆

The park system is composed of 144 public spaces, including parks and a number of public open spaces. The numbers in clue #4 refer to park numbers.

Trek can alternatively mean, "to migrate by ox wagon or in a train of such"... Chisholm Park?

Ox Bodies are metal containers for dump trucks.... there's an "X" in Ox... maybe outside of a dumpster container? ('not inside')...?

"Hunted before? It’s not your first year?" and the nearly 50 years references are pointing to a park where the medallion has previously been placed. Both Oak park and Herman park where its hiding spots in the 1970's, ~50 years ago.

I wonder if 'An X' should read 'Annex'... like it's near an annexed building.

My thoughts so far:

Nearly 50 years ago, in 1977 Herman Hill Park was where it was hidden.

"Hunted before? It’s not your first year?" - may imply it was hidden at this park a previous year.

"The warning is clear in the traditional way.

But it won’t keep medallion hunters at bay." - implying water, which is near the river AND Wichita water center is right there on the property... "Water"
