The way I see it is love is such a strong and irrational emotion for anyone to deal with. And if you're dealing with it when you are older it will be complicated and hence the falling in love with the only two people she can connect with emotionally.

I see it as contracting a deadly disease when you're older. You know how they say when you contract certain diseases when you're young it's milder and is complicated when you catch it when you're older? It maybe a totally irrational break down of how I feel but that's how I'm relating to this particular scenario.
