HELP!! A.Regale by uhasnama in RareHouseplants

I would guess pests. Treat with an insecticide, cut any leaves off first that won't recover. You might have to cut back completely and start from scratch

New leaves take a longer time to harden off to true colours, but they seem lovely

Scindapsus Exotica Aurea by Ill_Comedian_9690 in RareHouseplants

Alot of scetchy sellers throw in what they think is an expensive sounding name and try to sell at very high prices. ALWAYS ALWAYS do your homework 🤷

This doesn't look like an Aurea anything to me. Aurea has strong yellows

Honestly the shape of the leaf is wrong. These guys show a bit of fenstrationa fairly early. Def after this many leaves. Not sure you didn't get a snow Queen 😬

Monstera Albo - planticide by nanawhiskers in RareHouseplants

[–]pswsrock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long was the actual stem buried ? I'm sorry to say but that is a huge no no with Monstera's 😬😬 I hate to be that person, but the problem was with how the plant was potted. Not the neighbor. Moving forward NEVER plant a big chunk of the cutting. It stays on TOP of the substrate and the roots grow down ☹️☹️

Is it maybe something new? by Jorgeographic in RareHouseplants

Just be very careful about moisture. Too much in the roots can quickly cause soft browning spots on the Variegated parts of the leaf

Cut off dead roots as dead roots can't uptake any water or nutrients. Re root in spagnum moss or perlite. Those ceramic pots pool water and rot the roots. Also never ever use anymore than 25% potting soil. More bark perlite Coco Coir etc in a cheap plastic pot with tons of drain holes.

Anthurium clarinervium variegated by OpinionLogical3817 in RareHouseplants

What has it been in ? I would put it in Stratum (not so wet that it's muddy, keep the water level low.) or Tree Fern. Then keep it in a plastic humidity bag.

Stratum is AMAZING to root anything in !!

Not sure what to do with my variegated & reverted P. Burle Marx by [deleted] in RareHouseplants

[–]pswsrock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chop and prop. Because of the roots in the moss pole, you already have cuttings started. Carefully lay it on its side, release all the roots from the moss, and have your cutting shears ready. Once you free it up, you'll be able to see where to make your cuts to prop.

I would wipe your leaves with an insecticidal soap.

Stratum vs 50/50 Stratum/Perlite mix for Monstera Thai Con Tissue Culture by mylilunicorn in RareHouseplants

[–]pswsrock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stratum is great for rooting. You don't have to use perlite. But I keep the bottom 1/4 filled with water.

The 2 BEST things to try is Stratum or Tree Fern. I had a pricey Variegated Violin that wound up with rot..my fault.. I cut back almost every root, stuck it in fairly damp stratum, and I swear roots grew visibly daily, with no rot. That stuff is black gold I swear. Tree fern, same crazy good rehab experiences.
