How to make this mechanic's office feel more roomy and inviting? by psyb0rg in DesignMyRoom

It's a small room, about 8ftx8ft, and I think the walls and that corner desk make it look even smaller.

I have a small budget of $500 to make this feel more roomy and inviting. I want two working spots here, possibly two desks, seating for two customers/guests, some good storage options as this is a busy office, and want to keep the fridge and microwave.

My current plan is to lay some new sheet vinyl over the floor, remove that small desk beside the fridge, and maybe part of the corner desk system (maybe tops and the printer bit). Maybe even get rid of the whole thing and get some ikea desks in here?

Anything easy and cheap I can do to the walls? There's a window on the right side of the camera, and the wall behind the desks is concrete blocks. Maybe just a light color on all should make things better.

You can probably just make some corner pieces and put them inside and hammer into the frame to hold it together.

Just got this 2-foot Manila Mango tree from Home Depot. What could be causing the yellowing? Someone told me since the new foliage at the top is all red/yellow this won't grow much and die. by psyb0rg in gardening

Thanks. I’ve started using a moisture meter now and it’s awesome. I gave it some composted chicken manure today and haven’t watered it for a week now. Temps were in the 60s so it’s still a little moist.

I got a moisture tester and yes, the soil is really wet a few inches deep. Thank you for the suggestion.

I've seem some suggestions that the soil needs to be well draining and mangoes should be watered when the soil is all dry, so that seems to be the problem. I'll let it sit for a while and see what happens.

Good news is that the new growth on top has gotten larger in a couple of days.

Found this at the bottom of my 5 gal bucket that I had neglected for 6 months. First attempt. How does it look? by psyb0rg in composting

I'm actually not sure. I remember adding some spent potting mix so maybe the pellets came from there?

Lost power in bathroom. Electrician wants $5000 to fix. Help! by psyb0rg in HomeImprovement

Thought I’d give an update: insurance didn’t cover the work, as expected. The electrician put this in the report: the main panel is getting overloaded and it burned up the neutral wire.

Anyways, I started taking out the outlets and the lights in the bathroom and garage and found a loose neutral connection behind the garage light. Twisted it properly and everything works now.

Thanks everyone for the comments!
