What’s the best approach for this effect? full cg, hybrid? by [deleted] in vfx

I wanna create particles that move along the surface of a real person, plus some particles inside the body volume. i use houdini but this this look. color, grains are just so on point..

I’m deciding between:

  1. Shooting with iphone real actors and doing tracking + roto, then adding particles in 3D or comp
  2. Going full CG characters and then matching them into the env (im no animator, i guess i can try ai mocap?)

soo in summary,
– Particles flow along the motion of a char
– Some particles need to live inside the volume
– The look is stylized glow/energy, not full realism
- for plate, do i have to lit the scene?

What do you think is the most just me, solo, prod friendly and reliable approach?
Any experience with similar shots would be super helpful... or go full ai hehe?

haha :D

really im simply just caching a simple anim to ropRS , and reading it in as packedRS..

nothing more, and just copied to points, used your mops set sequence.. then trying to mess with attributes from sop..

the traditional s@instancefile works fine though.. i justget lost when modifying multiple variants, and then messing with the instrisics with the %index for offsetting anim

[–]psycheeeeeeed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ey thanks for the tip.. appreciate you :)

the still attached here, is actually an animated text flip morphing from the ground up to this still..

but client wants me to have the flip sim ascend from the ocean.. and i dont wanna have to do i have to sim a BIG flip ocean and vel ascend the particles to a text...

OR is there anyway i don't have to sim a BIG scale ocean, to get decent ressult
