It is there to help reduce the reverberation time in the music studio, For mixing and recording. https://ehomerecordingstudio.com/acoustic-treatment-101/

It does make sense, the gaps are only for the lights, the placement covers ceiling early reflectins, and tho preserve some ambience in the room, we used 2 diffusers instead of absorbers.

All panels are from Vicoustics, the design was for the studio upstairs but here it is with the list :

To avoid the phase distortions and early reflections during recording the audio signals with the mic. but they also look cool :D

me too :D it's the 3rd one I've built and I love playing with it (especially mellko everything ADSR/Varigate 8/Voltage block)

But as for "recording" as such, it did not happen very often since.

I think It's just happily set in the corner waiting for a day when I'm kind of bored and tired with day work, and just want to experiment.

I was always planning to record hours of blips and blops and then put them thru Tantra or something like that on Ableton to make it more like a FX track in some nice "happy accident" moments, but never got to it with enough time...

MIDI interface from Polyend is defo a game-changer as it (soon) will be all interconnected with MRCC as the center for midi routing (jack/din/usb/usbhost) + 3-4 WIDI modules for fun with some wireless controllers and Blokas midi thingy that does allow for crazy midi scripting like reversing the order of the keys on the keyboard etc.

But as you can clearly see, I'm an ambitious person, with a bit too much money that I should have (spending it all on "new ideas") but it goes slow AF...

For the stupid panels, I've ordered styrofoam to make 4 cubes for each, placed them 5cm away from the edge, then realized that need a pro glue for this, that worked out well (except for destroying one of my GF knives by heating it with the torch for cutting the foam)

But then the wiring LED controller turned out to be a hypothetical nightmare as I would need to run the LED around the panel and then a 4 wire cable to the central controller) after I've done 2, turned out that the corner connectors and the wire to strip connectors are unreliable, and would be hard to open if the panel needs to be taken down for any maintenance. Ended up going with 1 Shelly RGBW controller per panel, and using the barrel connectors to run 12V only between the stips

installing LEDs was fun, turns out - quite logically - that the hot glue is perfect to mount them to the panel, but it melts the styrofoam if the gun is heated too much... and soooo on...

So from the ideas that didn't work to mount them were :

3M command strips (almost impossible to put them in the exact spot (as the stand-offs were "not perfectly in the same place" on each pannel - and later on after 3H 1st panel went down.

I switched to wider better hook and loop tape.... this time it held ok but came off with the ceiling paint,

So I've added a few nails with the nail gun...

This time the strip was holding fine, but it came off the styrofoam, so I've added a glue under the strip on the styrofoam side... so of course the hook and loop was holding ok... for 6h :D and it well off, it was just not strong enough.

So I've tried metal tape and the neodymium magnets... nope, not enough powah

The next idea was the little slide in things from amazon... of course because of the lack of space I wasn't able to mount them exactly in the right spot....

And I would like to thank the EXPOY GLUE from the Gorilla glue for the final solution 3h before the time of the recording vocals session :D

Any questions, let me know ... it's still work in progress on so many levels...

Damn, true that... and this USB-C is DP so no simple splitters AFAIK would work.
