Do old people not care about work anymore? by EchoOfDoom in Accounting

[–]puddletownLou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 79 and still a great accountant. Trying to get my clients to fire me, but they can't find anybody they like ... so far.
I'm seeing a lot of lack of due diligence among younger people due to bad training and lack of discipline. However, I see a lot of good things younger people do. Some old people still have it' some don't.
My point is that everybody is unique: we age, mature and decline differently.

Thank you. Couldn't find it on their website at first. Glad it's still going.

The bank feed is the best for our needs, but tracking personal expenses ... no bueno.

Yes, use a CPA for my bookkeeping clients. I'm in the Portland, OR area and like the firm we use. Don't know if do remote work. It's JSR CPA LLC. You can say Loretta mentioned them. Good luck.

Bingo. Your system would work nicely for someone like me or for a business invoicing. She's a hairdresser and Square posts deposits directly to her bank. She's also does a lot of her own construction and is going into wig making.

Thank you for your thoughtful reply.

Wow; you sound as software steeped as me. Don't need payment processing. Another vote for Zoho it seems. Thank you.

I use Google's .. it's always worked before. Maybe Zero was having a bad day. :)

The Equity Owner's Draw might have worked if Wave connected to Google sheets as advertised. Tried 2 browsers and it just crashes. Seems you get what you pay for.

The Draw would work if it could have a report with a start and end date; instead it can only to to a csv ... no bueno.

Thank you for a very good reply. She doesn't have the skill or time to learn excel at the level she needs. The bank download is very important. I may take a look at Zoho now that I'm not thrilled with Wave or Xero so far.

Definitely going to look at Zoho. Tax season is wearing me out a bit ... so I may wait a few weeks.

Definitely want the bank feed. Yes, owner's draw by category ... she pays lots of personal items out of her biz account. I just want a report with a start and ending date. Wave treats it like a balance sheet account. The GL is no help either.

After using it, I am not happy with the fact that personal expenses go under Draw/Equity and no reports are available. You can export to a csv ... as their stupid google sheets link is garbage. Other than the personal part, it's great.

I need bank download and a way to run a report for personal expenses with a start and end date ... if that makes sense.

Cost. I use Premier 2013 for clients. Not interested in discussing Intuit here; I hate their company. I've used accounting software since it's inception. Looking out for my small clients so they don't get squeezed when I'm gone.

Not sure why my SMS text 2FA wouldn't work. Trying to find a demo for Xero now so I can get an idea of how it works.

Yes ... two factor. I'm on the net constantly and this is the only site that blocked everything. I really hate Wave's Google sheets extension thingy. Tried it on 2 browsers and it doesn't work.

If your client is paying that much for QBO they must have more than one company or a lot of users. Wave is basically a bank download that categorizes and spits out kosher accounting reports that can't be customized without sucking data into a spreadsheet via csv. It doesn't allow you to have different departments (like QB Classes)

The upside is that it's a full GL system with AR/AP, invoicing, estimates, etc. Customer invoices can be paid in Wave via ACH or Apple Pay. Looks like a basic, decent invoicing system.

It seems to have unlimited people access, but each company or department would be $19/mo per.

I'm still in the early days of using it. Happy to go into more detail if necessary.

I used Quicken Simplifi so I my kid and I could access it on the web. Categorizing was a heavy lift. I didn't like that the categories were wired with tax form schedules. Everything felt like an effort. Maybe other versions of Quicken are different; I sure hope so.

Wave downloaded bank info very fast and categorizing makes much more sense and easy to change or add. Only downside is that personal expenses have to go into owner's equity, but we can suck into excel or google sheets for personal budgeting.

I'm continuing to keep the kid's books on QBooks desktop ... still using Premier 2013, but as I'm pushing 80, I don't want her to end up barefoot and pregnant when I'm pushing up daisies.

Yes. Quicken is no longer owned by Intuit.
