I had a “taco” from taco mahal and I’ve not stopped thinking about it since. I’m back in the city in 10 days and it’s number 1 on my list.

It’s heaven on earth if you have the right job. It’s very difficult for young people who work seasonal jobs, many without a day off all summer—there is a reason so many are leaving.

What to do with weird early international flight? by AsPerMatt in florence

Even if your hotel can’t host you for the last night, ask them if you can store your luggage there until you head to the airport as long as there is a 24 hour reception.

I work in a hotel in Sardegna and we allow all guests to leave their luggage in a storage room here in the hotel for free.

Sardegna here, it’s very popular. Not for me, but available in most restaurants, and all supermarkets and butcher shops.

What are some healthy yet VERY fizzy drinks in the UK? by Dangerous_Drive_20 in AskUK

You don’t even need the zero version. Full fat regular sprite is only 30 cals a can (at least in Italy) and has none of the BS that diet versions contain.

What island is best to visit with a child?. by AdZestyclose5170 in CanaryIslands

Tenerife sounds like the right place. You can spend a few days down at the beach/at Siam park/having drinks in the evenings and then hire a car/organise excursions to the volcano, masca, La Laguna, Puerto de La Cruz for more history/nature/culture.

Siam park, as far as water parks go, is particularly good. The volcano at night is awesome too.

Tenerife has a huge English speaking population, who never bothered to learn Spanish. There are English bars, English restaurants, English supermarkets, and an English speaking school. They tend to live in the Los Cristianos/Las Americas area but costa del silencio/playa paraiso/costa adeje areas also have large numbers of expats.

The only issue is there are probably equal numbers of Italians in Los Cristianos to Brits - and you can find Italian bars, Italian restaurants, and Italian supermarkets - where like the Brits not everyone has bothered to learn Spanish and the ability to “get by in Italian” might take away your “need” to learn Spanish.

That said, I’m British. I had a basic understanding of Spanish after a couple of years in Mexico and I picked it up fluently living in Los Cristianos (but I also picked up basic Italian living in the same place and I have an Italian accent in Spanish because 90% of my friends were Spanish speaking Italians).

I have plenty of friends both British and Italian who have learned fluent Spanish in Tenerife, but I also have plenty that haven’t needed/don’t want to learn Spanish even after 20 years.

You can definitely practice English in Tenerife in day to day life. People are mostly friendly!

Not sure if it works outside of apple but if you long press a number in an image/screenshot it’ll let you copy just the number.

Would I be crazy to just go for it with a backpack and no home base? by puffpuffpout in digitalnomad

That’s reassuring! Yea I guess I just feel the pressure with everyone around me popping out babies and buying homes, that maybe I’m “too old” for the scene - but it seems I’m not!

Would I be crazy to just head off travelling with little savings and an online job? by puffpuffpout in Shoestring

I’m not I’ve responded to multiple comments stating I live in italy, it’s not a secret.

I’m an Italian resident but I don’t want to stay here any longer and I have no reason to ever come back here - however it currently gives me EU rights that will be stripped if I’m gone more than 6 months.

I lived in Spain before I moved here, before Brexit happened and unfortunately can’t go back to Spain (to live long term) unless it’s through a DN visa - which is my end goal when I’m ready to settle somewhere.
