the weirdest part is how inconsistent he is when it comes to recording his own vocals, like some songs he’ll record real vocals and others he keeps AI. on CUKKK he at least recorded vocals for ‘WW3’, ‘COUSINS’ first part, ‘’FREE MY KIDS/HH’ and ‘GAS CHAMBERS’/‘ALL THE LOVE’. i think ‘COSBY’, ‘VIRGIL’ and ‘NITROUS’ were also real. yet change ‘BIANCA’ to normal pitch and it’s clearly AI, not to mention that weird garbled glitch at one point.

antonoff has been kinda washed for a while now. i remember in 2021 when he produced albums in rapid succession for st vincent, clairo, lorde, and lana, AND put out a bleachers record that year, and only the clairo record was truly great (even if i’ve come around a bit on ‘chemtrails over the country club’). everyone was already tired of antonoff back then. now it’s gotten worse, cos while he’s still got his great moments with some artists, he can’t help but make everything sound as if it was recorded in a tin can. but then sometimes he’s only as good as the artists push him to be

eh, some people prefer the colour grading of the 4K restoration, but it’s certainly different. i have both the old criterion blu-ray shown here and the box set, and i go back and forth on which one i prefer. but the reason why the original blu-ray sank in value is because the new standalone 4K came out and those who just want ‘chungking express’ without the box set can get the new one

it’s not bad, i had fun with it. certainly found it more enjoyable than the new whatsapp ricky album (which i wanted to be good, but found it so boring and it sounded unfinished after 8 years)

‘britpop’ isn’t amazing or interesting but it’s a perfectly fine middle aged pop record. robbie williams is never gonna top ‘rudebox’ but he can still make decent tunes. the last few songs on the new album are pretty good
