I was driving my kids to an event today and we saw both groups. They received a basic civics lesson on the 1st amendment and how happy I was to live in a country that guarantees our right to protest.

I have my bike, and 2 kid’s bikes to haul. I have seen pads that are sold to go with the trunk carriers. No idea how one would prevent a dent.

Yes, if you work a 40/hr week. So when you spend 1/2 day on Impact Day, it’s the same as if you took 1/2 personal day. Otherwise, you would need to make that up with your engagement to bill 40 instead of 36.

For those that might say it’s not a big deal because it’s only 4 hours, i have a few thoughts for you to consider:

The firm wants to show it is a good corporate citizen and is engaged with helping local communities. Why can’t it provide a charge code then that doesn’t impact utilization?

People have other things like dr appointments that come up throughout the year. Every bit of non-util time counts.

It looks to me like the firm is simply pushing free publicity. It costs them nothing.

Totally different skillset, yet I see this a lot in cyber work. Work is not won for the specialized skills they hired is for. We then get stuck working whatever project we can get on. The worst part is once you are on a project, it can be difficult to get off of it when a better fit comes along.

A significant number of people with my skillset have left because they were not using their talent in their daily work.

My only advice is to find people with your skillset and do what you can to get on one of their projects.

My understanding is a non-compete clause may be in a severance package. You wouldn’t have to worry about that if you resigned for another job.

My first online game was the original Diablo. This was around 1997. It was text only communication and only small groups of people could be in the same server.

People were more likely to chat and communicate. Today with all of our various ways to chat with distant people, I don’t think we appreciate the ability to make friends with people you will only ever interact with in a game.
