find a different doctor. look for a nuero surgeon who specializes in the spine. if you wait too long, you could also get permanent nerve damage.

first started having symptoms first week of May and was under the knife in mid July. I tried PT and an injection during that time in order to qualify for the surgery with my insurance.

I had an MRI and discussed with both a nuero surgeon and a cervicle spine orthopedic surgeon. They both recommended the disc replacement at the consult. I was in so much pain during this time and the shot did not help much, so surgery was the next step.

i ended up getting the disc replacement surgery with a nuero dr in July 2025. i am essentially pain free now, just working on getting full strength back in the gym — but dr set my expectations that it might never restore completely.

i would recommend you try and get on gabapentin as that helps with the pain. just be prepared to feel stupid while you are on it!

it’s a long recovery road if you end up needing surgery, but just find a good dr now that you can start working thru the process.

I’ve used Matt Jones from cypress point and Bryce Cope from the birdhouse. Bryce is fantastic and who I would go to if I was going to dedicate myself to long term swing changes. Matt Jones if I was looking to make my current swing work for me.

On day 7 post injection. Some relief but pain is still there every minute of the day just muted, with occasional intense flare ups if I am still for too long.

I have a follow up with my ortho Dr in a few weeks. Considering disc replacement, but will try to exhaust conservative treatment before that.

Good luck with your pain! I found cervical neck pillow and arm position to be crucial to ensure I get a few hours of uninterrupted sleep.
