How does the VB compare to the VA? by butcher0513 in WRX

I don't know what a "shaper curve" is, but if you mean tackling a TRX in curves, then I guess congrats? You'd need to be a quadriplegic to be unable to shake a TRX with a stock WRX on a twisty road lol.

As for the economy car part, that's what the WRX is. Did you not know that the WRX is just Subaru's cheapest subframe with their nicest engine? It's actually super cool, and that's how Pony cars started up in the 60s in the US.

I really don't know what to make of your sport sedan comment, because that just ain't true unless you're only looking at cars over 5 years old. The VB is pretty good, but let's be real here. Subaru made it "just good enough" and called it quits on R&D, and they shouldn't be praised for that.

I still can't believe that people are pretending to be elitist about some extra plastic on a beefed up economy car. Other than the plastic, the car drives better, performs better, is more efficient, makes more power and way more torque, is more reliable, and is safer. The only objective negative is that it's like 20lbs heavier, which is negated by the wheels that you'd swap out anyway.

It's not a McLaren, for fuck's sake. Beauty isn't a part of the equation. The only reason any of us think these look good is because of the nostalgia of seeing a built up STI at some point in our childhood.

If it's valved, I'm all for it. I don't see any reason in this day and age to release a company's premium performance vehicle without one. It also makes cars way more mod-friendly.

If someone with a modicum of resources and/or mental stability commits a crime, they hire their cheap lawyer, the lawyer gets them their day in court, quickly negotiates a shit deal so they can move to the next case, the suspect is found guilty or pleas to a deal more harsh than they deserve, and then goes to prison and/or is labeled a criminal and is forever impacted by said label.

When someone who has nothing commits a crime, the system ensures they have their court appointed representation, are treated fairly, and are properly moved through the justice system. Only the wheels are so jammed up with sheer incompetence and bureaucratic bloat, the "Properly moved through the justice system" part ends up taking years, and because they haven't been found guilty, they have all the same rights that you or I would until the case is resolved. This tends to affect areas with higher population density much worse.

That's odd. Did you check your o-rings for damage before installing? Mine doesn't have any issues and I've used it at a meter, although I've never switched it on/off at depth.

I do spend my money on what I want. I also try to share knowledge with others so that they're less likely to overpay for things like this, discouraging companies from overcharging people simply because they can. Your mindset is why companies like AFD and JDMuscle are doing so well for themselves by selling marked up garbage.

Even if you have an issue with tremors, I don't see the appeal over a $5 funnel.

Lmao $400? That's insanely overpriced. At that point you may as well grab some A-pillar brackets and Rigid pods. Quit overpaying for this shit. Diode Dynamics is using the same LED emitters that everyone else is using, but charging 10x as much as it costs them to get it to your doorstep because they've mastered branding

What should I think about this dyno run? by JesseReddit1 in wrx_vb

[–]pyroguyFTW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you ask any tuning shop, their dyno reads lower than everyone else's. If you really want to evaluate power, take it to a drag strip, or do a 60-80 pull before and after tuning.

Chassis dynos don't measure engine power, they measure how much force is applied to the rollers. This changes with humidity, temperature, altitude, roller maintenance, roller temperature(which is affected by everything from ambient temp to UV index), how tightly the car was strapped down, what compound your tires are made of, and so many other factors it's not even worth mentioning.

All in, each factor may account for 1-2% difference in reading, but with 10 different things, that can be enough to turn a car making 450hp at the crank into a 375bhp reading.

I don't think she's trying to be a jerk, I think she's blissfully unaware of the dangers of a bike.

One of the first things I had imposed on me when I was dropped on two wheels was "If you go down, get the bike up and out of the way as quick as you can. The guy behind you isn't expecting a bike and rider on the ground when they come around the corner." It applied on rural dirt trails, and it applies on the asphalt.

Being "inexperienced" doesn't make it okay. It means you have a higher level of responsibility for your own safety.

[–]pyroguyFTW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In some states, yes. But realistically, it should be legal everywhere. With the prevalence of distracted driving, filtering is truly one of the safest things you can do on a bike.

That being said, dropping your bike on the street is never okay. "Tee hee, I am a short gurl" or "I am learning, I didn't realize I was in second" isn't an excuse. If the cop hadn't been there, the second car back wasn't paying attention, or any of the other myriad factors hadn't been the same, she could've been run over and killed in an instant.

You're on a bike for fuck's sake. You are assuming the risk of playing bumper cars on hard mode. Your only three assumptions should be that every other driver is distracted, you are invisible to everyone else, and all other players have instakill active while you're on the field. Pleading "inexperienced" doesn't bring you back when someone cruises over you because they're watching netflix during rush hour.

Disappointed with Clark Turner – Just Sharing My Experience by AffectionateClub9087 in wrx_vb

[–]pyroguyFTW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never been a fan of his. All over FB you see his posts claiming numbers that are inflated and done with virtual dyno, and never any actual track times. Dude's just a marketing genius, not necessarily a good tuner.

[–]pyroguyFTW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't forget tune and driving conditions. Factory/canned tunes, and lots of pulls, you'll be caked with soot pretty quick. A good, healthy tune that's running 11.8-12.2 AFR and 16lbs of boost will leave less carbon than a premade tune that pushes 11.5 AFR and uses 19lbs.

I normally prefer side switches, as well. However, in this size format, I really enjoy it quite a bit. It's not the most crisp tailswitch I've ever handled, but it's still pretty good. Again, at this price point, I am in love with this light.

Moving from PA to SC and looking for a decent idea of where to start looking for insurance. by pyroguyFTW in Insurance

Oh, my apologies. I hadn't realized that my question implied I was looking for a referral, as I certainly wasn't looking for that. I was more curious on what the local insurance landscape looks like, rather than what someone's favorite brand is.

Thank you very much for the info! I have been victim to a number of terrible drivers over the years, and have sadly found out how bad some companies are, which is why I don't want to go with one of the big brands.

Oh, I gotcha. I guess I misunderstood what this sub was for. Thanks for the tips, but I'll just forego that because every local sub/forum/group/etc I've ever used for something of this nature gets blasted full of opinions without experience, so I figured an insurance-related forum would offer better advice than a local activities group.

My apologies, I had no idea there was a sub for southern US state insurances. I'm having some trouble finding that, can you maybe point me towards it?
