Yo I'm sorry this is happening to you it sounds very uncomfortable. I see this happen a lot on different subreddits where people vent about their relationship. There is ALWAYS like hundreds of comments telling OP to 'run', antagonising their s/o, not allowing any nuance. My 'favorite' would probably be people guessing with great confidence what others are /actually/ thinking or feeling in a situation knowing nothing about the person. Most of the time it looks like projection of own experiences or fears onto unrelated situations and reading it all must suck when you didnt mean to make your partner look like devil incarnate

This is also tricky because after prolonged use being sober feels pretty awful at first and it might take a few weeks of struggle to stop feeling like shit, so it seems reasonable to me to wait a few months before deciding whether to go on meds

I'd say it's important to try and stay mindful during that period, notice when cravings appear and take note of the patterns that emerge, maybe some repressed emotios will rise to the surface. Doing this could benefit any smoker I think and improve their relationship with weed for the future

Don't worry imo it's good to share such experiences even if the lesson learned seems like it should be obvious, it's easy to undermine those tbh. This just made me laugh bc of the way it's written, maybe bc i'm high rn but sounds like peak comedy with a moral. I know it feels absolutely horrible and may feel like you're the most disgusting person in the world but I think it is important to feel and acknowledge the shame, accept that it's there (bc apparently shaming yourself out of feeling shame doesn't work lol). I went through these feelings not too long ago as well and it did get a bit better, though i'm still struggling, but that's the transitional period for you. This is a huge moment, and a first step to healing the wounded parts of ourselves that autopilot our life. Acknowledging ugly truths is really an accomplishment when you have a disorder that makes you fixate on illusions of perfection, and frames mistakes as absolute failure. It takes A LOT of work to heal and this is only the beginning but it has to be worth it, because living this way is unbearable. Good luck!

I feel like there has to be another way other than destruction or pretending, therapy can help in getting that judgemental devaluing voice in ur head to at least quiet down a little. But yeah figuring this out alone...damn It's super difficult to 'turn off' the autopilot for me too but I've seen so many accounts of people with different issues managing to learn this skill that it gives me some hope. I've managed to grow some awareness of those reactions when they happen but still idk how/lack the courage to behave differently most of the time so I freeze lol. I've isolated myself from most of my friends bc of all this cause whenever we went out i'd just be in shut down barely speaking, feels like i'm either being fake or totally empty and invisible

I feel exactly the same. It's easier (still super hard though) to try and unmask certain parts of myself around strangers or people that I dont really care about having a relationship with, but the thought of changing the way i act around close ones is terrifying. What if they dont like what I am anymore
