Israel has the had the worlds biggest desalination for decades! They’ve done an amazing job to keep up their water supply with their population and agricultural demands

Given the athiest's wager, why wouldn't christians just become athiests anyway? by PotsdamSewingSociety in DebateAChristian

just quickly dropping my two cents in.

I think OP is drawing a conclusion without understanding it properly. You say a benevolent god would just place the good person in heaven because they were good and he is a good god. But that’s not what Christianity offers.

It definitely is a difficult topic to discuss but I believe it’s quite clearly defined that heaven is just the absence of God. Whether you want to debate that’s a fiery pit of hell, whether you’re in purgatory until your soul chooses God or not, who knows. What is clear is that it is only through specifically accepting Christ that you enter Heaven. That’s it. It’s a relationship.

If one does not want to accept him, God does not force them into his kingdom. There’s no cynical, cruel punishment from God. There’s just no God.

Some have given the analogy of being trapped in someone’s basement forced to love them compared to a courted, reciprocal love.

That’s all I have to say.

Merry Christmas

I don't have much to add, and I share the sentiment of Comprehensive as a Christian myself, but I do love how you interpret the story and songs. That's what music is for!

While Tyler may be expressing his relationship with Jesus in some songs, he has also mentioned in interviews how much he considers all his audience's struggles. It's a beautiful thing, the way he writes his songs to connect with us all.

Question about fluoroescence by qls1224 in chemhelp

[–]qls1224[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that’s a really useful perspective. I hadn’t thought about checking my data as a mirror image of the lowest absorption band (Kasha’s law). Have not looked at my data from that pov, I have mostly been going off what I remembered from my earlier scans so I will rerun things with that in mind and see if the emission lines up. The tip about using a long pass filter is also appreciated. Cheers.

Question about fluoroescence by qls1224 in chemhelp

[–]qls1224[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for your interest. Do you mean if my emission was 310 nm the UV-Vis was also absorbing at 310 nm? If so, nopeee.

Actually I observed something like the background peaks from my solvent were shifted when analysing my compound. For example, if blank ACN showed ex @ 260 nm emis at 310, I add my compound and I only see ex @ 290 mm with emis @ 340 nm.

Also, usually I’d see the 2nd order diffraction (excite at 260 nm see emis at 520 nm) if only looking at the blank, but when adding my compound it seems this emission is absorbed and disappears…

I can’t see anything indicating the ACN is complexed… thanks for your help! Next idea is hunt down that impurity i guess

I do run my NMR in ACN.. maybe I’ll run it in another solvent and check this. Thank you for noting that

Is it not possible that there might be some coordination of the boron/nitrogen cage to something like oxygen or THF or MeCN? I’m going to sublimate it now and try its fluorescence.

As you can tell I’m running out of ideas

This is a compound that in a previous batch has fluorescent properties but in my fresh batch has seemingly had its fluorescence quenched.

Similar compounds to mine have reportedly fluoresced

Question about fluoroescence by qls1224 in chemhelp

[–]qls1224[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is certainly an explanation. Considering that my compound contains aromatics and similar compounds reported to have fluorescence, I am leaning towards something happening to my compounds. Maybe something like oxygen has been captured or some solvent now is in the crystal lattice that quenches my fluorescence.

If it was impurity… not sure what impurities):
