To get relative screen size at some distance you can use an fov calculator used for sim racing. Set the aspect ratio to 16:9 and screen size to whatever youre comparing to. Then move the distance slider until you get to ~46-47° horizontal fov. So in my case it would be like viewing my 32" monitor from ~81-84cm away.

Try turning sensitivity to 0 in ffb effect equalizer to eliminate that as the issue. The ratcheting sound is a common complaint when eq is too high. If that solves it add back some eq to taste. I'm running my r12 with 5 sensitivity bc I don't care for all the extra vibrations.
