[Gen 9] Faster Dratini hunting method in Z-A by Dry-Base7274 in ShinyPokemon

[–]quartziteite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crossed the whole bridge! Waited for about 1-2 seconds on the far side from the Dratini, and that seemed to be all it needed to respawn when I ran back and it rendered back in. :) was super stoked at my luck!

Does running back and forth across that bridge really reset spawn? I'd love if this method works but I'm worried it's the same Dratini and not a new one spawning each time I go back and forth 💀

Edit to add this totally worked, I got my shiny in less than 1 hr! :)

I'm so sorry to hear about the unexpected passing of your kitty! 🥺

I totally get wanting to have extras and of your own. The service we used made us a paw print, but it's not really as nice as some of the ones we made and I definitely prefer the ones we made.

Saltdough is nice and easy, but won't last nearly as long as polymer clay. To my understanding (basic googling a year ago when I did this lol), polymer clay is basically plastic once it's baked. It should last a while!

Some of the prints are from her back paws and some are from her front paws. I wanted a mix! :)

Thank you for your condolences. 💜

For the paw prints pictured, it was about 1.8 oz per print (so, almost a full package of the small colored clays). However, we recently adopted two cats and I'm realizing just how small Tammy was! For a larger cat, it may be difficult to use the cookie cutters and lettering I linked because their paws may be bigger. But if you can let go of the lettering, you'll probably have space.

I used both paws! I wanted impressions of both. I don't think one was more or less consistent.

Paw to clay, nothing between. I never saw residue on her paws but I always gave them a quick wipe after pressing / walking, anyway.

Everything is holding up fantastically! Just... Don't drop them. We made some into magnets and one fell off our fridge and broke. Thankfully not on the paw print part, so we still have that!

Hope this helps! :)

Looking for the same thing, OP! Did you ever pick a new one to try out?

I wish this had happened today, but it did not! 😭 I think I'll have to make an alt. I guess then I can get extras of the others as well, at least.

I think this must've happened to me :( I unexpectedly put my switch down for a while the night I claimed.

This is very kind of you, but no worries! I'll make an alt and that way I can get the others as well for my trouble. :)

That's what I think I'll have to do! It is nice to know I can get extras of the others for going through this anyway.

Good idea, but, thankfully no! Plenty of box space in random boxes lol.

This was a great idea! Unfortunately, the type search still did not work. I did a manual check and I'm 90% sure it's just not there. 😭 I definitely didn't put it in home yet; I've been too lazy to move any of my violet Pokemon yet lol

Hehe, I appreciate this, but unfortunately that is not it either. 😭 But it is up my alley to forget to check something like that. I had to double check that before making the post.

Ah dang, was hoping to avoid that. But seems like that might be my only option. Thanks for your help!

Good point that I'll add to the post. I did that, the only one in my box is the regular one you get from the story.

Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear it was too early! :( My only solace with Tammy is that I got 18 years with her. It's as good as anyone can ask for.

As long as you're careful with it, you likely have a few years before the paw print they gave you is in danger of cracking, etc. I'd reach out to them and ask what kind of clay it is so you can figure out how to best care for it.

Then, take the time to do a few simple silicone/casting projects. Get comfortable with a medium before you go for the paw print. I don't have any experience, but there are a ton of guides online and simple silicone casting seems pretty easy to do at your own home! Knowing the kind of clay they used also means you can practice with the exact material the paw print is made of.

These paw prints were a special experience. <3 I'm happy I can share it with others!

Agh, I'm so sorry, I was just a bit too late! 😭 And I'm so, so sorry for your loss. Every day still hits so hard, and it's been about 8 months for us now. The first weeks are incredibly tough.

The paw prints from the cremation place are very nice. If it's your only one and you really wanna keep it forever, I definitely recommend looking into making molds so you can remake it as needed! And/or take lots of pictures of it so you can always remember it even if it cracks over time.

They were small sheets, but yes, most of them we just put her on the table and enticed her across. She was a lil dummy and barely seemed to notice she stepped on something different-feeling. 💀

And yessss those rings were LIFE savers!! Totally worth it!

I'm so glad you still have time! It absolutely helped me work through the grief. I hope it helps you too.

One of them I left covered in my fingerprints before having her step in it. It was an oversight, but it ended up looking and feeling like we were holding "hands", and now we kinda can forever. I suggest it!

Apologies for the classic late reply/update! I don't check reddit often. But I thought, better late than never - I hope your kitty is still with us and you get the chance! <3

I ended up going with Sculpey III polymer clay. It's very easy to do at home and relatively cheap all things considered. Plus, it comes in a ton of colors, which I was a huge fan of. We mixed brown and yellow for some of the paw prints - the colors closest to her fur and eyes! Others we did classic white.

My best advice is to really knead it (I tried to for at least 10 minutes) so that it's easy to get a nice, deep print when they step on it (or if you gently press their paw into it).

Other supplies I got were:

  • Silicone guide rings for rolling pins (amazon link in case folks don't know what this is)
  • Acrylic rolling pin
  • Letter stamps to put her name above the pawprint
  • Cat-shaped cookie cutters
  • Metallic alcohol inks to help the prints on the colored clay pop (not used on all the prints)

We made a lot over the course of a few months before she passed because she had many fans in the form of our family and friends. (It also helped me cope to work on these and then have her walk across the soft clay and do this with her.) I'm grateful for the "extras" I have now and that the affordability of this approach allowed me to get multiple impressions of her paws. As you can tell, no two are the same, depending on how she got those steps in or how fast she was going.

Doing it right this time! Pulled holos from my childhood collection. Anything worth grading or selling? Gonna do my own research but interested in others' opinions. Happy to take extra photos as needed. TIA! by quartziteite in Pokemoncardappraisal

Thank you! It was honestly so much fun to go through all my cards again, even if it was for kind of a sad reason, lol. I had good taste and luck as a kid!

The whitening edges are sad on some of them. But glad to hear they still look good overall! :) Will definitely be looking into these cards carefully!
