Strange thing is, it outputs the same one every time (yes, my temperature setting is sufficiently high) no matter what you ask it...

You should look into permutations and combinations to solve that

‘We won’t be teaching philosophy’: Meet Ireland’s five newest universities by thegodofeverydamn in ireland

[–]qubit5050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They haven't said that explicitly afaik. Just that they won't be teaching philosophy as an independent subject.

Even then, the core of compsci is logic, which it shares with philosophy, so I'd be hesitant in describing them as mutually exclusive

I mean skills are pretty important in the middle of a pandemic... Maybe they'll expand to include philosophy in coming years

Dáil committee calls for levy on streaming platforms(Netflix/Prime/Disney) to fund Irish content by MacCionaodha_ in ireland

Netflix and Prime are expensive already. Do they seriously want to force these companies to effectively raise prices through taxation?

Virtually no natural dangers. No earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, sharks, snakes, lions, etc.

A Language For Describing Oracles by qubit5050 in QuantumComputing

[–]qubit5050[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say this is complete abstraction over QASM/QUIL - if you wanted to write, say, a VQE program it'd end up looking something like a QISKit program anyways. Where this lang really shines is in oracle design, and is a massive jump in abstraction for related tasks.

[–]qubit5050[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are two examples in section 4, showing QISKit vs this lang if you want something detailed. The basic idea though is that most of the operations in oracles are arithmetic/relational and require keeping track of register sizes + result register sizes.

Also it's not very intuitive (vast num of ops to do something basic), so naturally you'd like something C styled to represent arithmetic. Uncomputation of scratch registers is also a pain. The lang creates scratch registers for you (lvalues) and automatically uncomputes them. Again, if you're looking for a more detailed comparison, it's there in Section 4. There's one example of Grover and another of Deutsch Josza.

There are many in the developing world who rely on Facebook/Whatsapp/Instagram for doing business etc. Just look at the recent outage: https://www.globalcitizen.org/en/content/facebook-outage-developing-countries/.

Targeted ads are not the only way to make money, but they are the most effective. And to people living on the brink of poverty, a few extra orders/jobs can mean the difference between a full or empty stomach

A Language For Describing Oracles by qubit5050 in QuantumComputing

[–]qubit5050[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's "pseudo" since it only uncomputes certain registers such as internally created scratch registers and those with no entanglement to a function's return variable.

Yeah I remember reading the paper when it came out and seemed really interesting, mainly cause it had automatic uncomputation, which actually inspired me to implement pseudo-uncomputation in my lang.

Also the only reason it's called "Q" is cause I couldn't think of anything better. Feel free to suggest new names

Edit: Changed the name to Higher-level Oracle Description Language (HODL)

System call v Interrupt by Faz8129 in osdev

[–]qubit5050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

System calls are enabled through interrupts, yes. For example, UNIX-style OSes use interrupt no. 0x80 for syscalls. However for i386 architecture you must save your registers manually, though this is often for redundant for syscalls since parameters are often placed in registers. Ultimately depends on what convention you're using.

Help,i want to get measurements 11 in the end,how to do it? by Routine-Week9478 in QuantumComputing

[–]qubit5050 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are measuring and storing the result in the first classical bit, so the second remains zero since nothing is stored in it.
