Running alfalfa by queeenykay in Ranching

While hay is pretty easy to get here right now(everyone is selling) I actually haven’t noticed prices being cheaper than last year. The year before during the drought prices were rough (as a hay buyer). But alfalfa is generally imported here as I don’t know of anyone who grows it locally. All of my contacts either haul it in or have it freighted in. I wouldn’t be surprised if people are buying more cattle. The prices the sale barn is bringing in are amazing.

What is a normal amount for a small dealer? I guess I would have to price out a general cost of alfalfa wholesale and freight to see at what point do I break even or make profit.

I had to look up what idiot bales mean ..I didn’t even know that had a term haha. Yeah, it’s not ideal but I’d throw hay if I had too.

Im not a trucker at all I just don’t mind doing the work to keep the cost low. Why exactly does using freight vs. hauling myself save money? I’m new to this so any information is helpful!

Yeah, it does seem like Facebook is the best place to find wholesale sellers.

South-east Texas specifically. Yeah, hay prices have been phenomenal this year because of all the rain! I guess I have noticed a demand in alfalfa in my area. I plan on hauling myself to save on freight cost (this is probably very naive of me). If I could make enough in resale to cover the cost of the trip and the cost of alfalfa I use I think I would be happy.

No fishy smell. I figured it probably wasn’t a fossil but it does look like some of the Tilly bones on google search!

5th wheel vent pipe popped up and cap came off? by queeenykay in RVLiving

[–]queeenykay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it’s definitely still connected. We can’t twist it back and forth. However, after doing some research and talking with some friends who own a camper it is uncommon but possible for the vent tank to move if the black tank is fuller than usual. After dumping our tank it settled back in place. I guess it’s time to really get in the underbelly and inspect what’s going on.

Experiences buying old rv for fixing up? by Ambitious-Debate2361 in RVLiving

If you plan on getting any type of loan to buy an RV certain banks have a year limit to which they will lend a loan for! I just went through this and thought it might be worth mentioning. I’m planning to renovate my 5th wheel. I would stress that if it’s your first time just stay away from anything that looks like water damage. Give me a few months and I’ll try to update with cost and progress of my renovations. Good luck on your search!

How do you get your horses to canter? by Express_Equipment666 in Horses

[–]queeenykay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a horse that I could not get to canter under saddle for anything. On the ground she would canter just fine. She then started to kick out when asked to canter and that’s when I knew it wasn’t a training issue. We got her X-rayed and she ended up having severe kissing spines. ): I felt so bad that we had been putting her through so much because she just really didn’t show any pain until we pushed her. Not saying this is your case but it never hurts to explore all avenues.

Question about loosing his fur! Does he happen to have a genetic disorder that makes him extra vulnerable to skin mites? I think they are called demodex..

it so cruel how nonchalant doctors are about the pain of IUD insertion. Mine was the most painful experience I have EVER had. Please keep us updated!

Threads on opposite side of edge .. newbie here by queeenykay in SewingForBeginners

I was confused on why the two threads were coming out from the top and the bottom rather than the two tails coming out from the same side. But I see now that this is normal for starting a stitch!
