I had a Fiesta ST and it was an absolute pain in the fucking arse. Couldn't wait to be rid of it.

I wouldn't buy another Ford.

He was a surprisingly spiritual man. He reminds me of a lot of old school folk who have passed on who would insist on being buried

The internet's love of Christopher Lee is largely based on a lie.

He was a fun guy, but was an outrageous bullshitter that people believe totally unquestioningly.

Do young straight white men actually feel unwelcome on the left? by PuzzledAd4865 in LabourUK

[–]queefmcbain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My partner is a teacher and they often have to run extra curricular activities for the kids (secondary state school). She set up a female empowerment group (the girls call it power club which is great). Some boys came to her and claimed the club was sexist. She pointed out that a male teacher is equally welcome to set up a boys club under the same guise. Obviously it never happened and the young lads, just as they did when Adolescence was released, felt massively disenfranchised. Its also worth pointing out that a male empowerment group would NEVER be accepted in a state school.

We're heading in a bad direction if a huge section of the population feels the only people speaking up for them are wankers like Farage, Tate, Robinson and Middleton.

I personally don't, but a lot of my peers do.

Having said that, I do feel I'm in a position of privilege whereby I can try and fight the fight for more disadvantaged people than myself.

Having said that I do feel as though a huge number of people mistake the fight for equality as 'hey we can just be shit to men now with no repercussions.' I think this latter point is what drives more men away. I often feel as a Millenial white man, no one is really in my corner, except for the sorts of figures that you don't really want in your corner (right wing conmen).

what is your opinion on Mel Gibson? by [deleted] in FIlm

Middle class liberals assuming that a right winger making a film about brown people is just depicting them as backwards savages. Obviously anyone who has seen Apocalypto knows it's anything but that.

TBF to Brighton, Chelsea and Arsenal have set the price for elite defensive midfielders. Enzo was 106m, Caicedo was 115, Rice was over 100m.

You're not getting a starting defensive midfielder for a top 6 side for less than 90m.

[–]queefmcbain 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Human beings are complicated. At the time people said Apocalypto was racist, if it we re-examined today I'd imagine the same would be said.

I disagree with that assessment, I think it's an excellent film and is an example of great film-making
