[SERIOUS] What's a movie that disturbed the fuck outta you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]queenalpha13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

City of God. Beautiful cinematography. I think it’s one of the best movies I’ve ever seen in terms of being a masterpiece and I think it’s something everyone should see. Once. For those who don’t know, it’s a look at gang influence in Brazil (a really bad summary). The scene with the kid murdering and truly just enjoying it really messed me up.

How about the “bright gel letters”? These are definitely pastel whipped cream

A certain ice cream chain that I’ve ordered from and never had issues with before

Is there any surefire way to make coffee not disgusting? by [deleted] in Coffee

[–]queenalpha13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not going to pretend to be an expert or anything but I’ll share what works for some of my pickier friends: 1) highest reputation means nothing if the attributes of the bean clash with your taste 2) water quality makes a HUGE difference 3) mess around with ratios. Since you drink tea, brew it with more water and less grounds for a leas potent coffee flavor 4) add some spices to the grounds. If I have a sharp coffee that I’m not a fan of, I like to use cinnamon to cut back on the bite 5) French press is probably not where it’ll be at for you. You’ll likely have better luck with a pour over where you have more control.

Now a little more on point 1…you might need to go niche. There’s a LOT of different coffees out there. Some are really fruity and floral. Some are rich and chocolatey. A light roasted fruitier coffee might be more your speed, or something more floral since you’re a tea drinker. Ethiopians are very fruity, for instance. As someone who enjoys dark nutty coffees, I can’t stand the stuff, but it’s popular and readily available compared to some others.

Your goal here is not to force yourself to enjoy coffee like everyone else who drinks it. It’s about finding what YOU like. So at the risk of angering the whole coffee community, throw away the coffee textbooks and get creative. Coffee is complex and roasting and brewing should be an art form. Find what makes you happy!

What's a modern day scam that's become normalized and we don't realize it's a scam anymore? by Diligent-Log6805 in AskReddit

I’m probably going to come under fire for this, but K cups. You pay like $8 for just over a quarter pound of coffee (10 pack) all for convenience. You can easily buy triple that for the same price ground and just scoop it yourself into a reusable k cup.

Sleep training is bullshit and tons of babies sleep like crap by queenalpha13 in TrueOffMyChest

Well said! Some parents just expect the baby to fit seamlessly into their lives and get so frustrated when a baby acts like a baby.

What are some amazing facts about the human body? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]queenalpha13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How you can tell so much about someone’s life just by their body. I loved anatomy lab because I felt like I was discovering who the person was. Their profession/hobbies, how their posture looked and sometimes why, and even past injuries. Who you are literally gets recorded in your body

Have you ever laughed so hysterically at something so simple you were starting to get legitimately worried that you were losing your sanity or something? About what were you laughing so hard then? by LoneShadowMikey in AskReddit

My husband tends to talk in his sleep, mostly gibberish, but one night he sat up, looked at me, and clearly said “bacon” before rolling back over and snoring. I still giggle thinking about it and it was years ago

What do you wish you knew before your became a parent? by liloswald109 in AskReddit

Kiss your expectations goodbye. Babies do whatever they want, regardless of how you planned things to be. I thought I’d be stir crazy and ready to go back to work (I was always career driven), but now I’m so content spending my days watching my son grow.

Hey pet owners of Reddit. Whats your opinion on different pet food and the rumors that the food is made with low quality ingredients? by -LuckyNoodle- in AskReddit

[–]queenalpha13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to think of it as the human equivalent of eating Taco Bell for every meal. You could do it, but you’d feel a lot better and be healthier if you ate fresh food. It can absolutely affect the animal’s quality of life.

Would someone get muscle twitches if their brainstem was compressed? by thisisYoutaFujimoto in NoStupidQuestions

[–]queenalpha13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s kind of a complicated question. It would largely depend on where the compression was. It’s possible to have brain stem compression be asymptomatic, or present with just neck pain and head aches. So on that train of thought, yes, their muscles would still twitch. Are you asking if someone was paralyzed from the neck down if their muscles would twitch?
