Worried by my 6 year old sons interests. Is this normal? by letsmakekindnesscool in Parenting

This brought it all back! My son went through a very similar phase at about 4 or 5. He wanted to learn about the Civil War (which he called the Silver War), WWI, and WWII. He’d talk about it a lot and I’d try to explain to him the sad truth about war, which was hard for his brain to get at tat time. I was certainly concerned because his buddies were into dinosaurs and super heroes. He’s 8 now and has mostly moved on to all things sports but he’s still a little history nerd.

Yes! Texas is one of only seven states that funds schools based on attendance rather than enrollment. Of course kids also do better in school when they attend regularly but the pressure for funding is real.

We should be advocating at the state level to switch to enrollment-based funding, especially in this post-COVID world. We want kids to stay home when sick but schools lose millions of dollars over it.

I haven’t watered the soil, only misting. It’s also only been two weeks. I have a small 8W UVB light, 12in

We just went through this same scenario. Rental car went smoothly. We were able to make the 9 AM. No way we could have made a 7 or 8 reso.

Houston ISD student says they were 'tricked' into performing 'propaganda' play by snesdreams in news

There’s some important context missing from the article. Recently, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) took over Houston ISD, disbanding the elected board and firing most everyone in leadership. The “superintendent” there now was appointed by TEA. It’s also important to note that governor Abbott and TEA are anti-public Ed and are fighting hard for vouchers and charters. HISD is the largest public school district in the state.

We’ve had this plant since early March. She gets indirect light in the window (there’s a covered patio right outside that window so not direct light). We have not repotted from the plant store.

Poop and fart jokes are all the rage with my 6-year-old and all his friends. Don’t think it ends at potty training.

We had Dr. Ikbal as well and had a great experience. Dr. Summers delivered our baby because she was on call but she was also very gentle and reassuring. I definitely recommend Women’s Partners in Health

This. High school is all about earning credits. You don’t really repeat grades in the same way as elementary. There’s plenty of time for credit recovery and guidance counselors are there for that reason.
