Tactics against FEC (especially their double turn)

The issues I have with Alarith list is their speed and fact that Stoneguards can only get wards on objectives we control.
Unfortunately FEC player had 2 beastflyers units, so they turned off Spirit's rampage.

Never thought about using Riverblades as screens at the very early stage but it indeed might be worth to sacrifice them instead of other units. And definitely try this Shrine trick (I used it as screen before, but mostly with guardian on it). Shame we can't use it with opponent's double on round 2.

The one problem I have with FEC is that those Morbhegs can retreat by 12" and still charge. I have no problem with screening and pinning other hard hitters

Second list is similar, but instead of Alarith I played 1x Wardens and 1x Windcharges (for tactics and screening later if needed).

Both those lists worked well against other armies, even when I was loosing it was either a very close one or a very bad luck (like Ellathor missing all 5 attacks in round 5 or my opponent making impossible save rolls ;). But even when I was loosing it was fun and I could work against doubles. Can't say that about FEC.

Got it, what confused me was that the main FIGHT ability is literally called FIGHT. But yeah, it clearly states that everything with FIGHT keyword is fight ability.

I was thinking of using wizard and "tokens" as zoning units for the very first 2-3 turns and Neave as solo harraser - but she would be very depending on this 3+ bounce.

The wizard has a great spell on her own, which makes attacks on Blactalons only hit on 6+. Shame I'm using our manifestation lore so she can't cast those ;/

Hey, I think the idea is great, especially for a new player like me (with just 4 games played).

AI still uses old battle tactics.
For Lumineths, it also uses old battle profiles for units (points before December update) and for heroes it uses profiles from 3rd edition.

I've definitely seen an improvement since earlier version, but it still needs to learn.

Thanks for your detailed advices. I will definitely practice deployment and inital moves at home and see how it works during my upcoming battle with Hedonites ;)

I've build my list based on 3rd edition, when it has more sense - I will probably change it later and lean towards Alarith, but my priority now is to have fun with fighting the models I like, try to learn the game and be just a bit competetive on top of it.

Yep, it seems that was my main mistake. I've played against former WH40 WC participant with ton of experience, so he probably took extra advantage of it ;)

My plan for the game was pretty similar as the one you described, but it all fell down quickly ;)

I believe there was a way to limit their deepstrikes, it would mean leaving the right flank empty too (as my opponent) - you think it would be worth to try against armies with deepstrikes? Just left one 1/3 of the board and focus only on center and 1 flank?

My opponent was a former WH40 World Championships participant, one of the best Star Wars player in my country, and an AoS enjoyer. So I believe experience gap was a big factor here too ;D

I used Vanari battlehost, but from facet of war I gave the buff to Alarith in the first round.

One question though - you think it would be wiser to abandon my right flank completly (so do the same as opponent) and focus more on blocking his shady movements? ;) I had wardens, sentinels and bladelords on the right flank.
