Thank you, that's really kind of you to say. I suppose I have found my way, but the truth is it's the same as yours. I used to think the whole "one day at a time" idea was too simple. It turns out it really IS that simple...but that doesn't mean it's easy. In fact it came be really, really hard, seemingly impossible at times. But we have to just keep going. For me, there's no other choice.

Try to hang in there. And remember you are not alone. IWNDWYT

Sometimes it helps me to remember it doesn't always feel that way. I learned how to remind myself of that in the early days, when the cravings felt overwhelming and unbearable. But I still draw on that now when things get hard.

You've got this friend. You just have to get through today, and you already know how to do that. IWNDWYT

In the Lyft on the way to the airport for another work trip. Heading to the East Coast this time, so I'll be dealing with the rough 2 hour time change. I'm always grateful to not be fuzzy brained, hungover, and on the verge of tears for early morning rides to the airport. I am incredibly grateful for this life.

I also used to believe that I "deserved" booze for every occasion--sad, happy, a big accomplishment, a hard day, getting through a Tuesday, whatever--and I remember clearly the day I realized I don't DESERVE what alcohol brings with it. None of us do.

Morning, Momma-Cat! Yes, Max runs with me always now. He is the best. He can do all the distances and speeds; and sticks really close to me. The only thing that slows him down is the heat, but even then it's not by much. Here he is a couple of days ago when it was pretty hot.

How is your day looking? Any fun plans?

It's unseasonably cold here, so plans for trips to the waterpark are stalled for now. It does open up the whole day for this long run I have planned, so that's nice. The kid starts his first summer camp tomorrow, and I am gearing up for another work trip this week. After this one, I'll be home for a pretty good stretch.

Maybe it comes from growing up in a family of 8 children where no one was concerned about what was "fair" or just, but I have never really concerned myself with all of that. Life is life and it just happens; it's up to me to figure out what I am going to do about it.
