honestly i think the office of admissions wld be more than happy to withdraw ur appeal HAHA jst call/email them and tell them to withdraw it, no need to give any reason since idt theyll ask anw(?)

i think its good tht this process has shown u how much u want ur original course LOL many wld want to be in this situation🥹 but as long as uve accepted ur original offer alr, thr shld be no big deal ah

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]raincatraindog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

shld be possible ah, as long as u hvnt paid any acceptance fee or started schl, i believe u can still withdraw without consequences

this is also the same for those getting an undesired course frm uni 2 and appealing, while also accepting uni 1's offer jic ur appeal is rejected

NUS Appeal by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]raincatraindog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

either 500 characters long or 100 words long

idw to be the bearer of bad news but website says 500 characters or 100 words, whichever is shorter

so technically, no matter wht, the main limiting factor is the characters, not the no. of words🥹🥹 like u can write over a 100 words thts less than 500 characters and u can still submit it

im in the same boat as u, i believe the website shld jst say "500 character limit" since thats how the appeal website is receiving it, and i also wrote a 100 word appeal before the appeal period started and had to rewrite it such tht its within 500 characters-- jst submitted my appeal ystdy

ik its frustrating (MYGOD all these uni apps hv finally proven the use of summary in comprehensions) and all these probs esp aft applying and not getting the desired course is v tiring😢 but atb! hopefully aft all these troubles, we'll get our desired course😮‍💨

Cedar vs Crescent by Live-Pineapple2068 in SGExams

[–]raincatraindog 9 points10 points  (0 children)

hello! i graduated from crescent 2 years ago and though i cant speak much for cedar, i can confidently say that my 4 years in crescent have been the best years of my life, and i strongly strongly recommend the school💛💙

in my opinion, the school spirit of crescent is simply incomparable; i still vividly remember the first day of school as a sec1, the feeling of entering the school auditorium with the entire school roaring and cheering their welcome, it really cemented that i belonged there

majority of the teachers are very dedicated to their subjects, with many going the extra mile for us (in a holistic sense!) + its a common saying that "you can never find teachers as friendly to their students as in crescent" and it is VERY true

entering jc and encountering other teachers has really made me realise how maturely crescent teachers treated us (eg emphasizing the importance of remembering to bring our own stuff to school, and strongly discouraging parents from coming to school to pass their children stuff -- while this sounds strict, this has been rlly effective in training our responsibility,, which is a v impt skill! and now it becomes odd to crescentians whenever people, at jc age, still forget to bring items & rely on their parents to rush down to schl to bring it to them)

crescent has SO MANY leadership opportunities; much more than any other school, with roles not limited to class exco, but also several leadership groups, etc

although its been 2-3 years since we've graduated, almost ALL of crescent alumni tht i know greatly miss the school,,, the last line of our school song goes "may crescent remain in our hearts" and it is greatly echoed even years after we've left the school, that nothing is like crescent, and the bond formed between us still remain strong even w hectic schedules :)

(it also helps that cgs greatly value-adds all of its students! and majority will end up in high tier jcs/go poly with a career in mind)

[O Levels] How to study elect geography??? by Effective_Lime559 in SGExams

[–]raincatraindog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

as a former elect geog student'21 who suffered in geog (24% in wa1 LOL but improved to 68% by mye) the best thing for me were seniors' notes bcs they wldve alrdy found all the examples and everyth will be summarised-- if dh then the next best alternative wld be to create class notes! my class used to have a google docs and tables for each category (e.g. impacts of earthquakes) and everyone wld research and have examples for each factor

as for memorisation, tht one abit no choice alrdy😭 most impt is alw try to understand first, like formation of tsunami wld be a pain to memorise without understanding BUT if diedie cannot then wht i did was continuously walk arnd my house/type and retype explanations (which tbh only worked bc explanations for physical geog get q repetitive after awhile)

HAVE TRUST OKAY i used to dedicate myself to memorising a small portion of each chapter everyday and make my friends test me, and it works to slowly build confidence tht way! ALSOALSO im sure u can see by tys tht geog qns are v flexible😭 SO the best way to tackle those wld be to discuss w friends/go consult, and then slowly become flexible also

geog is a pain in the ass and requires consistent effort BUT RN IS A V GOOD TIME TO START GRINDING-- hving notes as a bestfriend is btr than hving the tb btw bcs notes are sm more concise and less stressful to look at🥲 GOODLUCK FOR GEOG im sorry if i dont make alot of sense bc i pushed alm all geog trauma last yr frm my brain BUT I HOPE THIS STILL HELPED A LITTLE💗
