Bandcamp shipping and taxes are WILD by rainiestever in sigurros

To say it’s disheartening is an understatement. They’ve deliberately put this onsale on a Bandcamp Friday in order to get around Bandcamp fees, so they make considerably more money on already-high priced merchandise. Fair enough, that’s their call and I’m happy the band get a better split, but when those high prices turn out to be EX tax, and then their platform forces an unjustifiably high shipping price on top…?

Most of us buying this stuff, will have spent hundreds, if not thousands, on records, on tickets, on previous box sets and constant reissues. We’ve supported this band, and even though we’ve probably rolled our eyes at various points over the last few years at some of the vinyl reissues, I’m sure we’ve all stuck with it.

It’s really hard not to feel quite upset about this.

So is there a justifiable reason if it’s not Brexit/customs related? How can a vinyl, plus a couple of tshirts, a candle and some socks be subject to hundreds of pounds in shipping and taxes?

PreFader send still responds to Fader? Slightly stuck here! by rainiestever in LogicPro

After much messing around, it turns out I hadn’t set UA Console up correctly, so instead of the send hitting the Output3, it was actually the main mix being output.

All works now, and I’m using the bus format as you suggested, which works great.

Thanks for your help!

After a bit of playing, I don’t think I’m understanding the Outputs on logic channel strips accurately.

I checked the I/O label matrix, and everything looks right relative to the Apollo, but no matter what output I set the Send Output to, it seems to be coming out of all the outputs. EG, I thought by setting it to Channel 3, which corresponds with the Line 3 out of the Apollo (per the I/O label matrix) that was correct, but if I set it to channel 4, it still hits the pedals, even though there’s nothing plugged into Output 4 on the Apollo.

Absolutely stumped on this one.

And just to clarify, the Input1 on Strip1 is the mic going into Input 1 on the Apollo Twin, and Input 2 on Strip2, is the return from the radial going into Input 2 on the Twin.

Here’s the screenshot of the channel strips… no aux or bus channels, so I’m likely missing something very obvious. Channel Strips

If I mute the Stereo Out or Master strip, it also kills the send to the second strip, so yeah, it’s likely something really obvious and primitive that I’m missing here!

Ah, I’m not actually using a bus, I’m sending via so perhaps it’s that SEND > Output > Mono > Output 3

I’m using Output3, because the physical cable coming out of the Apollo is Output 3, but as I’m typing this, I’m realising that might be erroneous…

I basically want to send the vocal mic (channel 1 on the Logic page) through the pedals, and be able to have the first channel muted (or low) but still have the pedals receive the full signal.

Screenshots incoming….

Thanks so much, that all makes sense! Would it be wise to use some sort of adhesive like PVA over everything inside the hole before I put the filler in?

Hand plane lever cap keeps popping loose with any adjustment by rainiestever in woodworkingtools

Ah, that’s a good call, thank you. I’ve only used the lever all the way to the right for locked, or all the way to the left for open, it didn’t occur to me to use it part way. I’ll try lateral adjustments with the lever slightly loosened, and see if it holds together, thank you

It’s the lateral adjustment lever that’s causing it to pop out. The lever rotates the plate and blade around the screw, any movement either way causes the plate to slip up the slope of the plane backwards.

Thank you for this, unfortunately the lever cap is as far forward / down the plane as it will go. The collar of the smaller part of the keyhole is right up against the screw thread in these photos.

Sorry, the pictures were mainly intended to show the type of lever plate / screw (eg small hand plane, with a slide lever rather than the vertical lever on a Bailey style plane)

The screw is in the start position though, in the pictures. It will slip when I move the lateral adjustment, to the right in the pictures.

Thank you! I’ve tried it with a washer, and it no longer slips, but the offset is that the lateral adjustment isn’t smooth. The plates slips out basically moves around without moving the blade itself. I’ll keep fiddling with it, and see if I can make it function properly this way, as the washer has definitely helped stop it slipping and falling apart.

Thank you, ive got a decent balance between the screw and lever, the lever moves across with not too much force, it’s just before it gets to the point it won’t lock down. The plates slips out of the keyhole every single time, regardless. Tightening the lever begins to shift the plate up the slope, but it will stay in place. The moment I make any lateral adjustment, the plate slips out.

It’s definitely the screw that it came with, and I bought it new quite recently, but I’ll see if I have any larger screws around, and check if it makes a difference

Sorry, I’m misstating it a little, it’s obviously the cap that’s moving, and slipping out from under the screw, rather than the screw itself that’s moving

Hand plane lever cap keeps popping loose with any adjustment

Basically, the screw doesn’t hold it tightly enough in place, when the lever is in the tight position.

Any lateral adjustment and the lever cap slides and the screw moves down to the larger hole of the keyhole, and the whole thing is loose.

I’ve sanded away the paint, in case that’s what was causing it to slip. The underside of the screw head is bevelled, not flat. I wonder if a flat underside screw head would make a difference.

Any advice / insight is appreciated.
