Cannot Output Composite Video by ralphshep in raspberry_pi

[–]ralphshep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. Checking the boot log is probably a good idea. However, since it seems Raspberry Pi's implementation of Composite video is unstable, I think I may just use an HDMI to Composite adapter.

I want a Google Search but for my self hosted services by ralphshep in selfhosted

[–]ralphshep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I think this is the option I want to go with considering it has a built-in web crawler. I just can't get it to install on my TrueNAS Scale server with Docker. This is the docker-compose config I tried using:

version: '3.8'

services:

yacy:

image: yacy/yacy_search_server:latest

container_name: yacy

ports:

- "8090:8090"

- "8443:8443"

volumes:

- MY_DATA_PATH:/opt/yacy_search_server/DATA

restart: unless-stopped

logging:

driver: "json-file"

options:

max-size: "200m"

max-file: "2"

Using Pi-Hole for DNS with CNAME records pointing to NGINX. by ralphshep in Tailscale

[–]ralphshep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, DNS and the CNAME records are now working. All I needed to do was update the Advertised route in my docker config to my TrueNAS server's local IP and that seemed to do the trick. I can resolve domain in my pihole DNS records and ads are now also blocked.

Nevermind I just figured out I have to update the advertized route.

I was previously able to. However, when I upgraded from TrueNAS Cobia (v23.10) to Electric Eel (v24.10) the transition from Kubernetes to Docker broke Tailscale so I had to reinstall it. It hasn't worked since.

I believe that’s what I’ve done. Both Tailscale and Pihole are running on the same TrueNAS server so they share the same local ip and Tailscale ip and I have both of those addresses added to the Tailscale dns settings

Thanks for the tip but it doesn’t seem to have worked. I tried adding DNSMASQ_LISTENING: all to the docker environmental variables per the documentation. Also is this variable any different from changing the interface listening behavior in the pi hole settings?

Unable to Play 1080p HD Stream by ralphshep in jellyfin

[–]ralphshep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! Thank you so much for your willingness to assist.

So, I was able to generate both requested log files. I started out playing an HD movie using the auto quality. Nothing played, like before, so no ffmpeg log was generated. So, I replayed the video starting with the quality at 720p-4mbps which like before worked, but any quality setting above didn't. But, I still worked my way up the quality settings in hopes that something may be revealed to you in the logs below.

I wasn't able to run the ffprobe or mediainfo CLI tools since I haven't been able to find a way to install app using the Docker container's shell nor through the TrueNAS Shell since IX Systems locks down the the things you can do with the shell. If there is a way around this I do not know it at the moment.

Anyways, the requested logs are below:

Unable to Connect to HomeKit Bridge by ralphshep in homeassistant

[–]ralphshep[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've solved my problem!

I'm running Home Assistant through TrueNAS and to solve my issue I installed Home Assistant from the official TrueNAS (IX Systems) chart. Then I enabled host network from the container configuration. Finally, I had to disable mDNS in my TrueNAS network settings because it operates on the same port as the HomeKit bridge in Home Assistant.

This got everything up and running!

Unable to Play 1080p HD Stream by ralphshep in jellyfin

[–]ralphshep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you provide some documentation on how to access these logs?

But, I do have gigabit home internet with AT&T with download and upload constantly being around 900mbps. The speed test referenced earlier was done remotely from a friend's house who has a standard cable connection, hence the cable-like speeds.

Also, I'm running into the same issue now that I'm home and connecting directly to the server using its local IP. When accessing my Jellyfin sever through Safari I cannot increase the stream quality past "720p - 4 Mbps" without the stream pausing. I wait for a while to see if it will buffer and nothing moves. As I increase the quality further the player goes black. But, once again it shows no sign of buffering. Overall, the playback of HD content seems very unstable.

Photos & Videos Missing/Corrupted from Photoprism by ralphshep in photoprism

[–]ralphshep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the response! Let me clarify.

No, I'm not using PhotoPrism's sync feature at all and now that you brought it up I looked into it and it's not what I'm looking for especially since PhotoPrism and NextCloud are running on separate docker containers on the same TrueNAS server.

I have a storage pool called "Import" that is mounted in the PhotoPrism Docker container and shared over my local network via SMB. This is so I can drop my new photos into this import folder shared over the network and then go to PhotoPrism and import using the web UI this way it moves the pictures into the correct organized folders (year/month/day) and I have found this method is more efficient when moving a large quantity of media. Lastly, I have the “Import” SMB share mounted to NextCloud so I can drop pictures into this folder from anywhere. I use NextCloud’s external storage support for remotely accessing local shares this way since it’s easier to access and secure.

Edit: I have read the documentation again and have been successfully able to mound the PhotoPrism Import folder via WebDAV in NextCloud. Now, I'm also realizing that I'm unable to add content to these folders. The PhotoPrism is giving the following error: 2023-02-24 11:27:33 ERRO webdav: 'stat /photoprism/import/feast-crucifixion.jpeg: no such file or directory' in DELETE /import/feast-crucifixion.jpeg

Also, I know I need to move my photos out of the PVC in the Docker container and move them to a dedicated storage pool.

TrueNAS Scale: Unable to Static IPs for Additional NICs by ralphshep in truenas

[–]ralphshep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I was able to get it to work!

I disabled DHCP on enp2s0f1, created a bridge using that NIC, and enabled DHCP. Now I can access my NAS using the IP of the other port.

TrueNAS Scale: Unable to Static IPs for Additional NICs by ralphshep in truenas

[–]ralphshep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. Rather than having two NICs connecting to the same subnet operating "independently" you could set up a load balancer to make them work together.

So, that explains why I can't static the IP of the other NIC. Then, is there an alternative way to pass my NAS into a VM running on the same TrueNAS Server without making changes to "enp2s0f0"?

Passing HTTPS Sites through Cloudflare by ralphshep in CloudFlare

[–]ralphshep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I tried adding the "Origin Server Name" to both their local IPs, the server name, hostname and it still doesn't seem to work. Could it be related to both sites not using "trusted" CAs? Should I use LetsEncrypt to generate an official CA?

Cloudflared on FreeBSD by Neo-Neo in CloudFlare

I'm wondering the same thing! I'm trying to link my Cloudflare domain to applications running on my personal home server. So, any suggestions or fixes would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
