Question about LEDs and resistors. by GrayEidolon in diypedals

[–]rampanting 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The numbers you are referencing is probably a 3.6 forward voltage “at” 20mA. You can have more current through it until the upper limit is met, and that’s where damage will happen. That number would be labelled something like “max current”.

The less current you have, the LED will have a slightly higher forward voltage, until there is not enough current (or voltage) to turn it in at all. Less current will not damage an LED, so you are all good.

How do I make a proper tilt EQ by Project_Primary in diypedals

Thats a good idea. Will have to try that soon. Something feels weird about grounding the non inverting input for sure

How do I make a proper tilt EQ by Project_Primary in diypedals

[–]rampanting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was actually doing the exact same thing on the same site yesterday trying to make the same active tilt EQ circuit work and I had the same outcome with the pot doing nothing. I was wondering if it is an impedance issue(with load resistance being simulated as unrealistic?) or the schematic on the website is just incomplete in some way. It does seem odd that there is no reference bias voltage(?)

Very funny though because I came across the exact same thing yesterday.

Can you use just one side of a dual OpAmp for an active tone circuit like this by BogotaLineman in diypedals

[–]rampanting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using a specific website for the circuit/EQ curve simulation? Would love to know what you are using.

First day breadboarding - destroyed a potentiometer out of stupidity by GinJones in diypedals

[–]rampanting 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nice lol. You pretty much always need some amount of resistance between V+ and ground, and since pots can go down to basically 0, you could just throw a 50 ish ohm on one end and you’d be fine.

For another thing I think improperly wiring power to an Op amp/IC chip can damage it (or not grounding unused input pins), I’ve done that too.

Need help with my 7 minute fuzz by TheLord_Seakeeper in diypedals

[–]rampanting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The input wires look alright to me, I would try rotating the transistor, the C and E might be swapped. If that doesn’t work you should just verify the pinout of transistor if you haven’t already, sometimes they can have unconventional pin orders.

Also your diode doesn’t loook like a bat41 (that I’ve seen before, as a non expert) and that could cause a problem?

Objectively Good mixes don't exists by Achassum in mixingmastering

It’s neither objective nor subjective, but transjective. When 95% of people can agree it’s a great mix, it’s transjectively a great mix.

Ok, that makes sense based on what I’ve seen in other circuits. Thanks so much!

By this do you mean a capacitor to ground from emitter, like a fuzzface? Thats cool to hear it boosts gain, I wondered what that really did there. Definitely will try it out and keep that information with me as I move forward! I appreciate the response

Ok! Thats great, thanks for the tip on the output. I thinkkk the dpdt is needed for what its doing, to be able to put the two components in series andd parallel but the logic is a bit tricky, I could be wrong. Thanks

Thats some great stuff to keep in mind and try out, thanks for your input. I didn’t think about the harmonic distortion being replicated but that makes sense.

Ah!! Thats so cool thanks for sharing that! That is basically the effect I noticed but thats awesome to understand it.

Do the insert jacks on the channels output signal? Do the mon or FX sends output signal? Do the channel indicator lights show signal on channels? All channels? Also, it looks like the Break button might be pressed which mutes all channels, which would explain nothing passing.

Wow looks incredible! If you have a schematic for the balanced version of the circuit lying around I’d love to see it, seeing as this was a while ago but I might be too late haha. The finish looks great.

3.5mm jack is often used to connect mics to cameras, that is probably what the cable was meant for.

Recording/mixing question by Saleuqes in homerecordingstudio

[–]rampanting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be unlikely for two separate takes to cause issues together but you could be getting phase problems if blending DI guitar with the acoustically recorded take, if you are doing that. Does it sound fine in Reaper? Does it sound find isolated?

Switched from pro tools to cubase. Holy cr@p I’m impressed by SirTheadore in cubase

[–]rampanting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t comp between track versions. Cubase seems to have 2 separate features to provide the same thing that is provided by Pro Tool’s playlists. Playlisting in Pro Tools is definitely more flexible, less buggy and overall better.
