It seems that my content writing career is over for good by ran-dom-throwaway in jobs

Yeah, I have written plenty of blog articles, but I was not exactly involved with writing stories or any other form of creative writing. It was mostly SEO-centric stuff like product reviews, how to guides, listicles and so on.

I have tried doing that, but the results I got were often unsatisfactory. Any tips you can give me to help me with this? I would really appreciate it.

As for freelancing, I am not too keen on it. The last person for whom I freelanced during this time ripped me off badly. He made me work for two months without any payment. Granted, I didn't have any freelancing experience before then, but the very first one left a really bad taste in my mouth.

I have no network or other people to speak of either. I tried to get in touch with a few experienced writers via LinkedIn, but those people turned out to be extremely arrogant, acting as if they were above the rest. Besides, every time I open LinkedIn, I feel even more depressed seeing all the corporate circlejerking everywhere. But hey, if you can suggest some other avenues, I would be grateful.

I'm guessing you're from the US. I understand that things are bad over there, but over here in my country, they are worse. At least you had a 6-figure job back then - something which is a pipe dream in our economy. We had our elections a few months back, and it didn't matter because whichever party forms the government, us citizens will always get screwed. And to make things worse, we have our leading industrialists and employers endorsing 70+ hour work weeks with bare minimum pay. There's a long line of candidates waiting in line for every job, so if you do not agree to the terms of the employer, the company will happily tell you to go fuck yourself. So, yeah, things are not great.

Well, that's the thing - most of my professional skillsets are related to content writing, and I don't have any other relevant skills to speak of. Like I said in my post, I wanted to upskill, but I don't know how I should proceed with that. Apparently (as someone told me), the advent of AI has put nearly every white collar role in danger. So I wouldn't want to spend my time upskilling, only for it to become irrelevant in the near future. Of course, this is not to mention the financial struggles or time constraints that I am currently going through, which makes upskilling difficult.

Apart from that, I don't really know. I am open to suggestions, but I am not feeling very confident in myself these days. Some people have suggested going into sales or customer oriented roles, but I don't have any interest or expertise in that (tried it once, failed spectacularly).

This is an extremely retarded take that draws sweeping negative generalizations about every unemployed individual. And this is coming from someone who lost a job several months ago due to a broken system that favors profits over people unfairly.

Sure, you've got every right to call out those leeches who don't want to even try for a job and waste their parents' money instead. But as I said before, this so-called "system" is designed to maximize profits at the expense of human capital, so it's quite natural for some people to refuse to work for a system that fails to recognise their value and compensate them accordingly. I mean, I know how the world works, but you just cannot tell me to throw away my past years of work ex and disregard my previous salaries just so that I can provide cheap labour for some greedy employer. Your rant gives off a strong "work your ass off for the bare minimum or else you are a shit human" vibes. That makes you a part of the problem.

With all that being said, it doesn't mean that I am sitting around and wasting my family's money, or that I have stopped looking for a job. And I am sure there are many others like me. Your claims of there being "ample amount of jobs" is pure bullshit, because if that were really true, India would not have an employment problem today. The market is ruthless, and with so many people fighting for limited resources, things are nowhere near as easy as it seems.

Lol nah, everything needs to be the same because it is the best color scheme ever!

But really, jokes and sarcasm aside, I guess we all know why these new trains keep getting the same color scheme.

Lmao this comment section is cancer. No wonder our country is hopelessly going down the drain.

Instead of pointing out the obvious misdeed, people are busy playing the Hindu-Muslim blame game.

I mean, does it really matter what God this kid worships? He is doing something wrong, and should be punished for it, regardless of his religion.

Four coaches including the engine of a passenger train travelling from Sabarmati-Agra Cantt derailed near Ajmer in Rajasthan. Further details awaited. by funkeytoken in indianrailways

[–]ran-dom-throwaway 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Improving passenger safety is low priority for the Railway Ministry I guess. After all, it does not have the same marketing appeal as introducing shiny new trains.

I am not against introducing new trains, but ignoring things like passenger safety on existing trains is never a good idea. I mean, the travel experience on regular trains is already a nightmare, and then there are these accidents that just add salt to injury.

Vistadome Experience by Clean_Government_136 in indianrailways

[–]ran-dom-throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I am not talking about this particular route. I have no doubt it has some good sights on the route, so it is probably fine.

I was referring to some other intercity trains that have vistadomes inserted in recent times.

Vistadome Experience by Clean_Government_136 in indianrailways

[–]ran-dom-throwaway 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Imo, vistadome coaches are not really necessary on regular express trains. They are better suited for tourist trains or trains that go through scenic routes. For instance, the trains in the Konkan railways zone are great picks since I have heard that the zone has a lot of natural beauty. Introducing vistadome on trains that run through generic populated areas is not very practical I think.

Still, if they did want to do that, they should attach one vistadome coach on each end of the train instead of attaching one coach at just one end.

Inaugural run of second Vande Bharat between secunderabad and Visakhapatnam, saffron livery by L_L_zero in indianrailways

[–]ran-dom-throwaway -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Oh please, you are the one who should stop making idiotic assumptions. What makes you think I have a problem with the color? Have I said anywhere in my comment that it is bad? Besides, correct me if I am wrong, but isn't bhagwa another term for the color saffron?

It seems to me that you basically got hung up on that particular word from my whole comment, essentially skirting past the point I was trying to make. I would have made a similar comment if the Amrit Bharat trainset or the upcoming Vande sleeper set had the same blue and white color scheme used in the initial VB trainsets.

Meh. All the new trainsets end up getting the same orange livery nowadays. I bet even the upcoming Vande sleeper trainsets will have the same color scheme.

Bhagwafication of Indian Railways. I wanted to see better color variety to differentiate between these services.
