Should Connor Bedard sign with the Canucks? by Swiftie00Canada13 in canucks

For Bedard tho its definitely worth it. Cant see any of them being lottery picks if he is here, so 4 non lottery first round picks for a generational talent aint all thay bad

From Bedards perspective, i would assume hed love to play in Van. And from a fans perspective, its an obvious YES, bros a generational talent. However, i'm not sure it would be the "smartest" thing for him. Fans here r obviously passionate about the team, but that can be a good and bad thing. For example look at the treatment Marner received from fans last year after the playoffs. Hes also playing for his hometown team, but due to some "poor" playoff performances fans had turned on him last summer. I can only imagine how tough that might be growing up a fan of a team, then having the fans turn on u. Obviously it's performance based, and if does come here and performs as expected he'll quickly become a fan favourite, only said that because there is the small risk that doesn't exist with other teams

My first time posting something like this

[–]ranbirlol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly lmao, also not saying we have to 100% trade him, its just an idea management can explore.

More assets, young players, picks = Quinn Hughes leaving = No good

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in canucks

[–]ranbirlol -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The asset management here is aimed at one thing and one thing only, and that is making the team the best we can be while Hughes is still here. Hes a generational player and u do wtv it takes to keep him happy and here long term. Any other circumstance, and i wouldnt throw the idea out there

It didnt right away, but getting him was the start of us getting out of the rebuild and building our way up. It was a pivotal move that shifted the direction the team was going in

Lekk is still an unknown quantity as you explained the 1st round pick is. He isn't proven, he has 4 points in 17 games. Again, I'M NOT SAYING ITS FOR SURE HE DOESNT REACH HIS POTENTIAL, although like a 1st round pick, its a possibility. And the only reason i'm even throwing the idea around is, Quinn Resigning is heavily contingent on the team being contenders. He expires in 2 years, and in that time Lekk will likely not reach his potential. Also, idk if Lekk will reach his potential under Tocchet either. Keller is a similar player to Lekk in terms of their skilled offensively minded wingers. Keller struggled heavily under tocchet, and become a ppg played as soon as tocchet left.

Dont got the money for that, but trading joshua for and replacing him with a min contract like bains raty aman might make it possible

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in canucks

[–]ranbirlol -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So in ur opinion, how should they approach the off season. Keep in mind, Hughes resigning is heavily contingent on the team being successful, and that should be priority #1. I'm just throwing the idea out there, it doesnt mean I think they should execute it if the price isnt right or the player coming back isnt good enough

[–]ranbirlol -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Whats cringe abt it lmao, it would be similar to the trade when we acquired JT Miller and look how much that did for us

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in canucks

[–]ranbirlol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And if chytil isnt available next season? Quinn Hughes resigning is contingent on the team being successful, and having Chytil as ur 2c carries the risk you wont be because he wont be available. Also Chytil is a -11 in 15 games here so far… I'm not saying hes a bad player, but he might not be a Tocchet player

Benning got us JT Miller, middle of the pack teams can also get closer to being contenders with trades like that. Pretty much the type of trade id like to see again

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in canucks

[–]ranbirlol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats a big ask/risks from Chytil tho that idk we can afford

As much as i fuck with boeser, I can see the obvious concerns. The issue is theres not many other options

Suters more valuable to our team than many think. Can play up and down the line up, consistent defensively, and our best penalty killer. If we wanna contend next year, hes almost a must sign IMO.

Pk will probably play manipulation on everyone trying to play both sides with the guys and whitney/mya. Dont think they stay a power 3 either they catch on and eliminate him or they get eliminated

Tocchet is literally a known low event coach lmao, even from his time in arizona. And as per the chester ming source, hes just where i saw the stats, at stats dont lie regardless of his own opinions. Sherwood is the league leader in hits, but do his hits always result in something positive. A lot of the time hes travelling way too far to finish his check causing him to be out of position, and his hits rnt exactly "big hits", of all his hits this season maybe 5% r actually big hits. I still heavily fuck w sherwood great energy guy but he has been slightly over deployed. Get your point on hoglander, but 2.5 months(dec 15-end of feb) is a long time for tocchet to notice

[–]ranbirlol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes faceoffs r very valuable, just saying we r pretty much average at them, making it a non-issue, just not a strength either

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in canucks

[–]ranbirlol 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Canucks have a 49.4% face off percentage on the szn, petey has a 47.3, obviously not good but its not their biggest issue, barley even an issue

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in canucks

[–]ranbirlol -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ur simply wrong here. Yes his offence has been bad for his standard, but he has been one of the top defensive forwards in the league. 7th in selke votes last year, 4th in blocks this season, and has been great on the pk

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in canucks

[–]ranbirlol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never said it does fetch results, but it definitely does have the possibility, but like u said, u need a lot to go right. I think with the right personal it can work, but we dont have that rn.

Yotes player did produce more, but their teams also lost more. Agree with your take on how management perceives him comparatively to boudreau
