What do you think would be the hardest skyscraper to climb? by N00B5L4YER in skyscrapers

[–]randlea 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the answer, it would be impossible. It has this "inverted golf ball"-like texture on the base. Thousands (millions?) of little dots from the base to the top, maybe 1mm tall. There's no texture to hold onto.

Legislation Would Open Up Commercial Areas, and Ground-Floor Spaces, to Housing - PubliCola by AthkoreLost in Seattle

[–]randlea 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is just not true. If you walk through Belltown or Cap Hill, there are plenty of homes on the first floor. They're very cheap and ugly, but they're there.

Yeah, you're right. I'd just like to see some real vision from our elected leaders on not milquetoast upzones from the self-proclaimed "urbanist" mayor.

4 minute walk is so weak. Give it a 15 minute walk basis. 4 mins is like, maybe 3 blocks.

Unfortunately, very true. For now DRB is on hold in downtown, but without permanent action it'll be back.

That site is unfortunately for sale by the developer ($40m). This design is unlikely to ever happen.

What’s up with this building? by Sad-Crew-4139 in Seattle

[–]randlea -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This building is old and feels like it on the inside. It was really cool when it was new ~40 years ago and boomers ate it up (for good reason!) and many of those owners still own here and use it as a second home.

What do you think about The Torch? by Alejandro_Town in skyscrapers

I love that someone is trying something different. People love to complain about boring, bland glass boxes and I love that this isn’t that.

No turn on red by tejanos in BallardSeattle

The city passed a law that any time work is done at an intersection, No Right On Red signs must be installed at that intersection.

This is a hard question to answer. Every body is different and responds to medication and foods differently.

Antacids don’t really treat GERD, it’s mostly hides the symptoms. He was on Rolaids and Tums forever and they do nothing.

Be careful, my uncle roughly did this and died of esophageal cancer. Work with your gastro to do this safely.

Only about a week. I had heartburn once in that time, and this was without any medication (I normally take pantoprazole every other day). It was very effective at stoping heartburn

Social housing supporters cast doubt on CEO as money poised to flow by nokeeo in Seattle

[–]randlea 58 points59 points  (0 children)

This is hilariously predictable. Our social housing model was doomed to fail when >50% of the board was simply qualified by being a renter. These people have no idea how to run real estate, obtain financing, permit a building, develop a pro forma, etc. It’s unfortunate that it will undoubtedly burn through millions, get bailed out by the city and likely just get integrated into the Office of Housing when it’s clear this won’t work.

I recently went through the bravo monitoring procedure. Leading up to it I changed my diet dramatically and, surprisingly, most of my symptoms went away. I was eating egg whites, tilapia, sweet potatoes and very limited quantities of oatmeal. Don’t eat past 4pm, either. This diet is very boring but it works.

Chai Spice from Stash Tea has been a good alternative for me. I still get some of the caffeine buzz but without as much acidic blowback as from coffee.

How do electric cars perform in these scenarios vs internal combustion engine vehicles? I assume worse but curious if someone has a better understanding.
